Rotten Legacy Review: Netflix’s new Spanish drama series brings an intriguing familial feud as the legacy created by a media mogul stands in danger because of his successors. The series not only captivates the audience with the way this succession war is shown, but also pulls us into the tense situations that are created because of this internal war. Adding to this are external forces that all want a piece of this media company and take power into their own hands.
The series consists of 8 episodes, which are all approximately 50 minutes long.

Rotten Legacy Review
The plot of the series follows a media mogul who is back in town after suffering from a grave illness that kept him away from his company for two years. However, upon his return, he is shocked to find out what his children have done to the empire he so carefully built and is now ready to do whatever it takes to save it. But while on his way to save it, he also wishes to teach his children a lesson and show them who has the actual power.
One thing about this show is how well everything is set up throughout the series. While the atmosphere is tense and filled with a mysterious, captivating vibe, the colours in all the scenes are beautiful. You can see a happy, normal atmosphere in every scene, but everything brewing beneath these surfaces is themes that will shock you. Hiding behind smiling faces are faces ready to play a plot and push someone down the hill, even if it’s family.

The show manages to capture your attention right from the start when you see the tension between the father and his children. The interview, the snide comments, and the underlying remarks all hint at the abnormal relationship that this family has. There is nothing that is settling about this family, and the centre of it all is the newspaper company that was built through the hard work of Federico Seligman (Jose Coronado). He is hell bent on making things work his way while keeping the intrigue of journalism, despite hiding many of his own flaws under his mask.
He is just one of the characters on this show that brings in hypocrisy, so get ready to try to figure out the characters who are hiding secrets deep in their hearts. Moving on from the characters, I have to say that I was impressed by the succession drama that kept going on in this series. Everyone is trying to keep power in their hands and force a succession race into the plot with everything that they have got.
Federico is open to handing over responsibilities, but he wants things to be done his way. His children are ready to take the responsibility, but they don’t hold the leadership qualities like him and just want to keep their status in check. Altogether, it is a whole mess.

While the succession drama continues in the pretty scenes that are shown to the viewers, we can’t have a Netflix series of this scale without some sexual scenes. These scenes were absolutely not needed, yet we can’t seem to put a stop to Netflix bringing more and more of such irrelevant scenes. But apart from that, the mood for most of the show is serious, but in its own way. The really relevant meetings aren’t those happening in the board room but in places you wouldn’t expect. These additions make the show unique and definitely a good watch.
Summing Up
Rotten Legacy is an intriguing show that shows a man’s effort in saving his legacy, despite filming an interview that can ruin it all. It is different from shows that are similar and brings in a kind of fun that you wouldn’t expect. An intriguing watch that isn’t so bad.
Watch Rotten Legacy on Netflix.
