Netflix’s synopsis of the stand-up reads:

From road rage to couples fighting during the pandemic, comic Ricardo Quevedo examines the absurdity of the situations that try our patience.

The stand-up starts with a black-and-white video skit, where Ricardo Quevedo talks about facing many failures in life but still getting up and moving forward. He says if you are too sick of living at someone else’s pace and of the go-getter attitude, take a break and watch this show. It’s okay to give up once in a while.

Until this point, it seems like he is trying to cheer up his audience after the difficult years filled with stress and anxiety. But wait till he says that; what we do isn’t worth a damn because tomorrow will be worse. Well, he isn’t telling a lie and smells like a clickbaity line to grab attention and make people listen to you.

The stand-up hasn’t started yet, and from the black-and-white video, we come back to the colourful stage, where the Colombian comic enters and seems stunned to see so many people in the audience, cheering and clapping for him. He starts his set with his observation about the car owners and bike riders stuck in traffic.

Anything about frustrated people in traffic and the types of people driving on the road always makes up for some good laughs. Be it the route finding motorcycle riders, who can always pass through the line of cars in a zig-zag manner, or the slow riders who are too afraid to speed past the economical limit.

This leads to the anxious signature trait of the Colombians, or as he says, ‘ass clenched to the end’. How the people worry about every single thing as a trivial matter and that even unites them together, like in the case of robber alert text chain messages sent by someone’s aunt who lives miles away.

And like other stand-up specials, his set material also has some pandemic-related stuff because, as humans, we can’t avoid the dark cloud that surrounded us for a long time. But compared to other comic jokes, which sounded unnecessary and pointed out the obvious things going around the internet as memes.

His insight is different and funny as it should be. The ridiculous things we did during the pandemic to keep the virus away were just crazy, and the way he presents them is equally hilarious. Followed by his experience living with his family and the solution to the long-asked question of what to eat between couples.

What sets him apart is that usually, the comedians just talk about the perspective from one person’s point of view. But he delves into what both of the partners must be thinking when asked, what should we eat today? And he even has a solution for the unanswerable question too. Not sure if it will be effective, but for couples, you can try and let others know.

Final Thoughts: Stream It or Skip It?

Ricardo Quevedo: Tomorrow Will Be Worse on Netflix is a lighthearted, quick watch. If you are looking for something casual to watch among the dark suspense thriller being released this month, then this is perfect to watch while eating dinner or with your family. I haven’t seen any other stuff of the comic but found his take new and quite family-friendly.
