Re:Zero Season 3 Episode 4 Recap

Re:Zero Season 3 Episode 5 Review

Garf and Mimi stumble upon the city in chaos, quickly finding themselves entangled in its turmoil. They encounter two powerful members of the Witch Cult, both of whom pose a serious threat. Recognizing their disadvantage, Mimi begs Garf not to engage in a full-on fight but rather to focus on holding them off, allowing enough time to find an escape. With this cautious plan, they engage, but things quickly spiral. Mimi is gravely injured, and a panicked Garf rushes her back to their safehouse for treatment.

Across the city, a similar scene unfolds as residents face relentless attacks from the Sin Archbishops, who have descended with destructive intent. Among them, the Sin Archbishop of Lust stands out, with her followers responsible for the assault on Mimi. In response, the city’s key figures, including Subaru, convene to strategize their next move.

Re:Zero Season 3 Episode 5 Review

Subaru is caught in a dilemma: he feels compelled to reach Emilia but cannot ignore the destruction around him. He resolves to first address the issue posed by Lust before pursuing her. Complicating matters further, Lust demands the Witch’s remains, an ultimatum Subaru learns about from Kiritaka. Kiritaka reveals that while the remains are indeed within the city, they power its infrastructure, and removing them would lead to its collapse.

Re:Zero Season 3 Episode 5 Review

The episode starts with the bizarre question that Emilia suddenly gets asked by Regulus while being naked in an unknown environment. She is as confused as us when the Sin Archbishop of Greed vehemently inquires whether she’s a virgin or not. To his delight, she is a virgin, and this seals her fate of becoming his 79th wife, whether she wants it or not. However, this is not the worst fate one can have in this anime.

On the other hand, we see a very aggravated Subaru trying to hold himself back from facing off against Lye, the one responsible for Rem’s situation. Subaru must not waste his time on the Sin Archbishop of Gluttony and focus on Capella, who is proving to be a bigger threat at this moment. He, thus, proceeds to confront her along with Crusch but also finds a pitiful hostage there. Sadly, this story has never been kind to Subaru, and this time as well it does not spare our protagonist.

Re:Zero Season 3 Episode 5 Review

In this episode, we are again reminded just how brutal this series can be, where human lives amount to nothing in the eyes of the very evil antagonists. Capella, in particular, is specifically cruel as she tortures her victims by transforming into their loved ones before she toys with them. Her blood also has the power to morph anyone into any creature, and this she uses to her heart’s content for the sole purpose of inflicting pain.

Apart from this, the situation with others is more or less the same. The whole city of Priestella is under attack, and no one is getting speared by the Sin Archbishops. They will not stop until they get their demands across, one of which is the successful completion of the wedding between Emilia and Regulus.

Verdict

This episode was bloody, gory and downright unforgiving. Subaru goes through so many traumatic events that it makes you wish for his death so that he can travel back in time and escape his impending doom. Not once do you feel bored of all the events that are happening, and this proves just how intense and interesting this anime is.
