Revenant Episode 7 Recap
In the previous episode, one would think that Woo-jin pointed out that Gang-mu passed the curse on San-young but as the 7th episode begins, Woojin asks San-young to find out about Choi Manwol for answers. So, that concludes Gang-mu didn’t start or pass the curse. Woojin disappears leaving San-young to find out about him via his school uniform’s logo.
Hae-sang learns from the Shaman that Gang-mu and his mother became friends when they were discovering the evil spirit. It seems like Hae-sang is much younger than Gang-mu. Detective Munchun learns about Choi Manwol’s suicide case and realises that it is from here onwards the bruise marks have been seen on many suicide victims. Munchun and Hae-sang decide to meet.
The viewers are then shown a flashback where Kim Chi-won brings his son Woojin to the Yeom estate. Hae-sang’s grandmother allows them to stay at the estate since Chi-won’s wife passed away. Hae-sang and Woojin become friends and he notices that Woojin is possessed by the hungry ghost. One day when Woojin breaks into the office of Hae-sang’s grandmother to steal a camera, he finds a document regarding Choi Manwol.

Back in the present day, Kim Chi-won meets with Hongsae and asks him to give information regarding Munchun and Hae-sang. Hongsae declines but Chi-won bribes him with a promotion offer. Hongsae decides to find out what Hae-sang and Munchun are up to through San-young. San-young tells him that if he can find a student’s name from 1999 who died by suicide, she’ll reveal about Hae-sang.
Hae-sang and Munchun figure that Choi Manwol is the killer of Lee Mokdan. Hae-sang visits Manwol’s great-nephew for some answers. When he visits him, Hae-sang notices that there are no ghosts and concludes that the nephew isn’t truly a Shaman (shamans are guided by ghosts). After finding out about Hae-sang’s ability to see ghosts, the shaman understands the man’s purpose.
They both have a conversation about Choi Manwol and the nephew gives him every detail about his great-aunt. We’re then shown another flashback where Choi Manwol chooses Lee Mokdan as the scapegoat for the ritual. For more details, he offers Hae-sang a diary of his aunt. In it, Hae-sang learns that Manwol was offered a huge cash amount from Junghyeon Capital which is run by his grandmother.

Meanwhile, Hongsae finds two death cases at Jangil High School, who died in the same way Yoonjung’s victims died. San-young realises that a student was possessed by the hungry ghost. Hongsae doesn’t buy her story but assists her to the school to find out about Woojin. Note that she still has no clue about his name but has only seen her. At the school, San-young describes Woojin to the principal and he shares his details.
Apparently, Woojin’s locker had the items of the deceased students, (he was the hungry ghost who killed the other students) and was punished for it. But soon after that he got into a car accident and died. Hongsae notices on the document that Woojin is the son of Kim Chi-won and understands that Hae-sang’s family is involved. A clueless San-young calls Hae-sang’s grandmother and asks about Manwol, only to hear the old lady scream.
Hongsae then shares with San-young about Haesang’s family and their Junghyeon corporation. After seeing the old pictures of the company, San-young gets a vision of how Lee Mokdan was killed. At the same time, Hae-sang confronts his grandmother and learns the truth. In order to become rich and luxurious, the Junghyeon owners that is Hae-sang’s grandparents sacrificed Lee Mokdan.

She became a juvenile ghost and fulfilled all the deadly wishes of the Yeom family. When Hae-sang’s mother found that after her husband’s death, her son would be possessed, she sacrificed herself. The curse then fell on Gang-mu as he came in contact with the cursed objects. Then the spirit chose San-young through the same object.
A broken Hae-sang leaves the estate only to find San-young on the road crying her heart out as she witnessed the death of Lee Mokdan through her vision. She rages at Hae-sang for killing a small child so he and his family could live happily. Hongsae watches them both from a distance. San-young then leaves to her grandmother’s house.
Hae-sang goes to the bridge and decides to end his life. Woojin allows the ghosts to take over him to save Hae-sang. Hae-sang breaks down on the bridge, unsure of what next to do in his life as his only friend has also left him. At the inherited house, San-young gets threatened by Lee Mokdan who states that everyone wished for her death including Gang-mu. San-young’s vision gets blurry and the episode ends.
Revenant Episode 7 Review
This is the best episode by far and I have to tell you, Kim Tae-ri nailed her scenes. The agony she conveyed after seeing a poor child being mercilessly killed was spot on. The episode had so much to offer and each scene was nicely laid out. We learned about Junghyeon Corporation, the reason behind Mokdan’s death, the cause of the curse, the link between Gang-mu and Hae-sang’s mother, etc.

In the upcoming episodes, we will find a way to stop the curse and bring justice to the child’s death. We’re unsure whether Hongsae will believe in ghosts but from the looks of his suspicions, he surely will witness something paranormal and stay beside San-young.
