The series is based on a Light Novel written by Bokuto Uno and Ruria Miyuki, and this episode is also called Nanatsu no Maken ga Shihai suru Episode 3 and Nanatsuma Episode 3 in original Japanese.
In the enchanting realm of magic, a class of fearsome techniques is known as spellblades. Shrouded in secrecy, these elusive spells and their wielders are renowned for their absolute lethality. It is within this world that Nanatsu no Maken ga Shihai suru takes place, an anime series that delves into the mysterious happenings at the renowned magic school Kimberly. Among the newcomers is Oliver Horn, a seemingly indifferent character whose curiosity is piqued by the presence of a girl adorned in peculiar attire, armed with a traditional Japanese sword.
As the story unfolds, Oliver quickly realizes that Kimberly is not the ordinary magic school it appears to be. The school continues in this episode, as we learn a little more about sword arts and how the combat and magic system in the show works. We have been through many classes so far, but the worldbuilding doesn’t look to be complete yet, and we are in a school where classes don’t really end until the end of the school year. We are yet to learn about the dark secrets that Kimberly is hiding, but we should get an indication of that soon.

Oliver has encountered a senior in the catacombs who does not seem friendly. We don’t yet know why they are there or what they want from their juniors, but their intentions do not look good. On the other end, there is Nanao and what happened between her and Oliver in the previous episode. Let’s hope that we learn some more about that interaction, as that felt like a pivotal moment for the future of the series and their relationship.

We learn about Sword Arts, which are the primary mode of combat in the show. They are swords which can cast magic, and the teacher wants the students to initiate a challenge for a mock fight. Nanao gets challenged by a seedy-looking guy, wo in turn gets challenged by Michella as Oliver takes on Nanao to save her. The two have an intense fight, almost killing each other, and Oliver swears off fighting her again. We also see a biology class.
