This week too the craze of the new South Korean girl group reality competition is flaring up and the same has again been recorded in the R U Next Episode 9 reactions (알유넥스트) on X (formerly Twitter). Netizens are sharing their takes on the SNS platform regarding the new performances delivered on August 25, 2023, for this joint venture between entertainment companies JTBC and HYBE Corporation.
With the finale merely days away, more eliminations were but inevitable. And the audience tuning into the weekly broadcasts of the BELIFT girl group audition survival competition hosted by Choi Soo-young aka SNSD Sooyoung surely have a lot to say. With the ultimate goal of debuting as members of the new HYBE Labels’ K-pop girl group alongside fellow label mates – LE SSERAFIM and NewJeans – the trainees are eager to be chosen as the finalists of the music survival show. And though the latest episode has released the new rankings, not everyone’s dreams are going to take flight through this series.
As teased in the previous episode, before the last round of eliminations ahead of the finale was announced, the trainees, divided into the two teams – ‘SCRUM’ and ‘PRIDE’ – showcased their respective performances. The latter lot included Jeemin as the Center, Chanelle as the Main Vocalist, Yunah as the Lead Vocalist and Jihyun, Youngseo and Himena as Sub-Vocalists. Conversely, the ‘SCRUM’ team included Jeongeun as the Center, Wonhee as the Main Vocalist, Jiwoo as the Lead Vocalist, and Iroha, Minju and Moka as Sub-Vocalists.
Thereafter, the two teams stepped up to present their next performances as part of Round 2 for the Semi-Finals. ‘PRIDE’ performed IVE’s Eleven and ‘SCRUM’ came out with their interpretation of TWICE’s Feel Special. The responses for today’s episodes first rejoiced at their favourites’ hard efforts and the results so put out on the stage, but these celebrations soon crumbled down as tears made their way into the conversation upon the revelation of the last two eliminations.
R U Next Semi Finals Eliminations
Next week’s episode will jump into the ‘Next Zone’, and so last two trainees had to be eliminated on this last step on the finale ladder. Ultimately, Himena, Jihyun and Chanelle were left behind as the bottom 3 trainees, out of which two were to bid farewell to the stage for the time being and only one would go ahead to the final round. Unfortunately, Jihyun and Chanelle didn’t make it to the last step and were told to step off the stage.
In the end, the R U Next final lineup for Episode 10 consisted of only 10 participants moving forward. Their names were revealed in the following order – Moka, Minju, Youngseo, Wonhee, Yunah, Iroha, Jeongeun, Jeemin, Jiwoo and Himena.

While some viewers are celebrating that Youngseo crossed over to the next stage, others are not even trying to hide their distrust in this survival contest reality show format and are openly calling out the show to be “rigged” and the judges as biased. More reactions praised the contestants, stating, “Jiwoo’s voice in ‘Feel Special’ gives me butterflies” and Yunah singing Yujin part is just top match, but of course, the majority seems to be hung up on the eliminations as the crowd continues to cheer for Chanelle, hoping that they’ll see her debut in the future somehow, “Never cried this hard, this show is a total joke, i hope to see on stage again chanelle”.
