Queen Mantis Episode 4 Recap
The episode opens some time in the past when Jung-ho stops a domestic violence case from playing in the street and runs into Yi-shin. Although he tried his best to help those in need of the police, the town was so steeped in crime that it was the only normal… until she came around to disrupt the status quo.
In the present, Su-yeol’s team are confused about how he gets his hunches right every time. They refuse to buy the notion that it’s all a coincidence, and Na-hee decides to look deeper into it. Meanwhile, Su-yeol visits his grandfather, Hyun-nam, who tells him the truth about what kind of man his father was and corroborates what happened that night. Either way, he implores him to give up this quest so as not to be dragged in deeper; however, Su-yeol, feeling responsible for the murders, refuses to stop looking.

Either way, he goes looking for answers to Yi-shin, asking her whether anyone could’ve seen her murder his father, and she tells him about their alcoholic neighbour’s son, Min-jae, who might have seen her attack his father. He tells Jung-ho all of this information, and he asks him to keep this between them so as not to expose his connection to Yi-shin, and promises to look into Min-jae.
Elsewhere, while snooping around, Jung-yeon comes across Min-jae in front of Su-yeol’s childhood home, who appears to be quite nice, but is a raging psychopath behind closed doors. Either way, he gives her and her friend a ride home and meets Su-yeol, who is shocked to see their suspect in front of him. Either way, Min-jae shows great reverence for Yi-shin, who was kind to him when no one else was, which leaves Su-yeol rather confused.

Su-yeol and Jung-ho start to trace Min-jae right after, after the former realises that Min-jae has been stalking him. He goes to the vehicle storage site to investigate and finds several shocking dioramas of the murder sites. Min-jae arrives before Su-yeol can get out of the place, and the two get into a fight, after which he asks him whether he met “their” mother.
Two things happen simultaneously – Yi-shin poisons the guard in her prison and makes a run for it, while Gu-wan wakes up and attacks Na-hee, eventually also making a run for it. Meanwhile, Min-jae is arrested as well on suspicion of murder, but he gives them an alibi that he tries to verify. However, in the middle, Su-yeol and Na-hee start to follow Gu-wan, but he is eventually run over by a car.

With his dying breath, he tells him that he knows about his connection with the Mantis and will tell the world the truth. Furthermore, he states that he knows that Su-yeol wants him dead as well and mentions that he is jealous of him. He eventually dies on the street.
Su-yeol is frustrated with Na-hee not following orders or filling him in before meeting Gu-wan, but she seems defiant, even threatening to get him into trouble by telling everyone that his squad is against him. However, Su-yeol’s troubles are just starting – with Yi-shin now out and no idea about her whereabouts, things are about to get crazier. Unfortunately for him, Yi-shin has arrived at his home in front of his wife.
Queen Mantis Episode 4 Review

Well, what a thrilling set of situations for the entire set of characters, all of whom seem to be constantly two steps behind the Mantis! I am extremely excited to see where the series goes. Although I am quite sure that Queen Mantis will not show Jung-yeol’s death, because Yi-shin isn’t stupid, I can’t wait to see his expression when he finally realises the truth. Other than that, the series is holding on to its mystery so well that I can’t help but be on edge throughout. All in all, the series is extremely enjoyable and brings forth an air of dread that is difficult to overcome.
