¡Que viva México! : All About the New Mexican Comedy

Netflix is bringing us a brand-new movie comedy movie ¡Que viva México!. It is a story surrounding a man who travelled to his hometown in Mexico, with his family to claim the inheritance that his grandfather has left behind. As the story unfolds, the family along with their relatives get caught up in their dishevelment.

¡Que viva México! which translates to “Long Live Mexico” was a slogan that was used by the citizens during the Independence War in the country and has now become a metaphor for the entire country that questions its values, desires, and cultures. Similarly, it is used in the title of the movie to showcase such instances.

The movie is directed by Lui Estrada who also wrote the screenplay along with Jaime Sampietro.

The cast of the movie includes Damián Alcázar, Alfonso Herrera, Joaquín Cosio, Ana de la Reguera, Ana Martín, Angelina Peláez, Enrique Arreola, Marius Biegai, Sonia Couoh, Vico Escorcia, Edwarda Gurrola, Mayra Hermosillo, Silverio Palacios, Ariane Pellicer and more.

¡Que viva México! Plot/Synopsis

The Netflix synopsis of the movie reads, “After his grandfather’s death, a man travels with his wife and kids to his hometown, where chaos ensues with his relatives over the inheritance”. The plot of the movie centres around the wealth of a dead man and who gets to keep it.

The trailer of the movie shows how the family right after attending the funeral of the dead man, instantly goes on to grab his inheritance. The embroiling tension between him and the relatives seems alarming at the first turn but soon it gets a comedic angle which keeps it light-hearted.

After the native dwellers of the village get to know about the inheritor of the wealth left behind, they demand to have a part of it. They talk about how it’s time for the man to pay back and return all the favours he took from the villagers. Chaos ensues as the officials as well as the politicians of the village also get involved.

The beautiful locations of the native Mexican village along with the people do ensure give an immersive experience and keep the audience hooked.

The upcoming movie, ¡Que viva México! is set to release on November 16, 2022, on Netflix.
