Poker Face Season 2 Review
Peacock’s hit series is back with another season of fun, mystery and intrigue, and Charlie is about to go on daring quests once more to crack them wide open and have an adventure of a lifetime. If the first three episodes are to be believed, we are in for a great time!
Natasha Lyonne brings back the quirky whimsy of her character, who has a surprising talent for being able to just tell when someone is lying. The episodes are arranged as a “case-of-the-week” style venture that also holds a central mystery surrounding Charlie’s life. This season starts off with Charlie being followed around by the mob as she jumps from one random scenario to another, making friends and enemies along the way.

Beatrix Hasp continues to chase her through all this and is one of the reasons why she is on the run. Thankfully, this old chapter of her life comes to a close in the third episode, which follows two fun whodunit mysteries. The first episode showcases Cynthia Erivo playing Sextuplets, and when their nasty work of a mother dies, Charlie arrives with one of the sisters to find something amiss. I found the episode to be hilariously unhinged, and watching six Cynthia Erivos felt like a fever dream and a half. The mystery was interesting and intriguing, and although we know what is happening from the first minute, it’s interesting to see Charlie get to the bottom of it.
The second episode follows a funeral home owner who murders his wife when she tries to leave him. Charlie again finds herself in the midst of a surprising mystery when she ends up outside the funeral home and strikes a friendship with Greta, whose sudden disappearance obviously makes her question Fred. This one, too, was extremely entertaining as it brought the different motivations of the characters to light in the most entertaining way possible.

The third episode, as mentioned previously, brings Charlie’s past to a close and is extremely entertaining thanks to all the returning cast members who play their roles perfectly. Simon Helberg and Rhea Perlman are a welcome watch as they fight it out one last time, with a new face to watch out for. What I find most interesting about this series is the direction and the editing. It adds a lot of intrigue to the runtime and reminds me of those classic noir detective shows, but with a more nutty protagonist!
Final Thoughts

Season 2 starts off on a very entertaining note and will leave most people laughing. The intriguing and crazy mysteries are the cherry on top and balance the two aspects extremely well. I like how it didn’t change anything about what made the first season click and instead gave us more of it. I am totally here for that!
