Outer Banks Season 2 Recap

The first episode opens with John B and Sarah’s loved ones mourning their deaths, unaware they are both alive. The couple is seen on a boat heading to the Bahamas, but the crew soon learns that John B is a wanted criminal, so they decide to hand him over to the police and collect their reward. However, they both escape the ship and take shelter in a hotel. Later at night, John breaks inside Ward’s condo and finds the stolen gold locked away in a safe.

Kiara, JJ and Pope continue their investigation to collect proofs to help exonerate John B. They set a trap for Ward and his associate, Gavin, to catch them red-handed, but Ward shoots the other following a heated argument. They reach the Sheriff’s office to inform them about the incident, but due to lack of evidence, the police refrain from believing them. With Rafe’s help, Ward dumps the dead body into the ocean.

The ship’s crew captures John B and Sarah the next day. Sarah reveals to them about the gold and plans an elaborate heist with the crew. A security alert reaches Ward, and so, along with Rafe, he arrives at the vacation house to move the gold to safety. However, during the move, the crew attacks them and manages to steal the gold. During the heist, Rafe accidentally shoots Sarah. The rest of the pogues set out to Charleston to meet an anonymous person who has the concrete evidence to prove John’s innocence.

They set out to find the gold the crew held for them, but the police found it beforehand and handed it back to Ward. Ward and Rafe travel back home with the treasure. John and Sarah escaped the island by boat and reached Charleston.

Pope reaches the house of the recipient of the anonymous letter, Carla Limbrey. She reveals the recording, which will clear John’s name, but she agrees to hand over the evidence only after Pope provides what she wants. She reveals that Pope is related to Denmark Tanny and asks him to hand over the key he left before dying. However, Pope remains unaware of the existence of the key, which leads to Carla’s bodyguard attacking him. Somehow he escapes them and coincidentally also meets John B and Sarah on the way. The group reunites and heads back to Outer Banks.

John B is captured by the police and put on trial for the murder of the Sheriff. On the other hand, Pope tries to find the key to get ahold of the evidence. Rafe tries to murder Sarah following an argument, but Topper reaches on time and rescues her. Meanwhile, the police found evidence pointing towards Rafe as the one who murdered the Sheriff. The drug dealer betrays Rafe and helps the police to arrest him. The group tricks Carla into handing in the evidence by giving her a fake key. John B takes the evidence over to the police, which proves that Ward murdered Gavin. The police surround the house to capture Ward; however, he is found on the ship, and suddenly it blows up. He leaves behind a video recording of him admitting to all crimes, clearing Rafe’s name as well.

Carla, along with Rafe, figure out the location of the cross that Tanny leaves behind, but they find nothing. Meanwhile, the group finds a major clue leading them to the lost treasure, but it is taken away by Rafe. Pope, along with the group, follows Rafe to the ship. Sarah meets her father, Ward, on the ship, which shocks her since she thinks he died during the blast.

The group cook up a plan to steal back the golden cross. John B is finally confronted by his mortal enemy, Ward, and they engage in a fistfight. After much effort, he rescues Sarah, and they flee the ship. The group reaches a secluded Caribbean island and decides to take shelter. During the last few minutes, Carla is seen talking with a man who turns out to be John B’s father.
