Our Beloved Summer episode 4 starts with Ung and Yeon-su talking about who liked whom first. Both, of course, say that the other liked them first, as usual. Ung tells the interview of the first day there was something in the air between him and Yeon-su – the last day of their shoot. While Ung remembers a very romantic day, Yeon-su tells the interviewer that the day wasn’t as romantic as he claims it to be. This sequence is proof that we will probably never get a straight story.

As the two set up the terms of the shoot with Ji-ung, which is also extremely annoying as they continue to bicker. As shooting starts, both their schedules are just so different that it’s funny. While Yeon-su goes on runs on weekends to never waste any time, Ung sleeps throughout the day. Their workdays are very different as well but it’s not very entertaining – you know, since they are not school kids anymore.

After not finding any salvageable footage, Ji-ung calls Ung and Yeon-su to meet in Our Beloved Summer episode 4. Ung is startled to find Yeon-su in his home and after cradling her face, awkwardly asks her to check out his studio. During this moment, the two of them bond a little over his drawings. We see a flashback of them in school when Yeon-su had messed up one of his drawings which she, later on, tried to correct.

However, in between it all, Ung says something hurtful to Yeon-su which again results in a fight. Ung realises that his sudden burst of anger is unfounded. However, his ego stops him from apologising. Yeon-su says that although she doesn’t say anything, doesn’t mean her life has been perfect. He asks her to speak her mind then, but Ji-ung comes in just then. The shooting for the day goes down the drain because of the fight.

That night, in Our Beloved Summer episode 4, both Yeon-su and Ung ponder over why they said what they said. Both feel equally horrible. The next day, Eun-ho is shocked to see that Nu-a is trashing Ung on TV saying that he plagiarized his work. Although Eun-ho is ready to take him on in front of the reporters and help Ung with his reputation, Ung is uninterested to engage with him. Meanwhile, Yeon-su gets invited to the Soen Shop launch party.

The news about plagiarism reaches Yeon-su as well but she tells her team that Ung’s work isn’t plagiarised so they don’t have to worry. She will talk to Do-yul about the issue. That night, in Our Beloved Summer episode 4, Ung is confused as to why Yeon-su hasn’t called him regarding the plagiarism issue yet and wonders whether she has no interest in him.

In his meeting with Soen Shop, Ung feels nervous but as to go in alone since Eun-ho is late. He comes across Yeon-su and goes inside with her. Immediately, he feels tensed and uncomfortable which grows even more when Do-yul asks him whether he plagiarised Nu-a’s work. Ung, however, strongly assures Do-yul that no one will find proof of plagiarism. His resolve assures Do-yul and he invites Ung for the opening ceremony.

Needing help with party attire shopping, he takes NJ’s help, who looks over the moon at the attention. The shopping montage is fun and Ung looks absolutely ravishing in whatever he wears. After 4 hours of shopping, they go to have tteokbokki, which NJ thoroughly enjoys. The two enjoy a quiet conversation with each other and it’s nice to see NJ’s sweet side. Meanwhile, Yeon-su struggles to come up with words of encouragement for Ung.

Off to the party, a dashing Ung runs into a beautiful Yeon-su. Although it’s apparent that he wants to spend time with her, she is ushered away by Do-yul. Annoyed, he pecks at the food but shockingly comes across Nu-a, who forces him to talk to him. Nu-a seems annoyed that Ung hasn’t responded to his allegations. But the biggest blow comes to Ung when Nu-a tells him that they will be working together for the Soen project.

Angry, he confronts Yeon-su, in Our Beloved Summer episode 4, and asks her whether she knew that he would have to work with Nu-a. She looks confused, and Do-yul tells him that they should just talk about this later. Ung, looking pissed, tells Yeon-su that she is always the one who ruins him and walks out.

In the Our Beloved Summer episode 4 epilogue, we are back to the rainy day at the beginning of the episode. They discuss how the shooting was like for them and we see why it was the day they both started liking each other. Oh, and Ji-ung lurking in the background, observing everything.

Final Thoughts: Our Beloved Summer episode 4

Our Beloved Summer episode 4 continues to be a decent episode where we get to see a little more of Ung and Yeon-su other than their “mortal enemy” mode. Although not the most interesting, Ung’s collaboration with Nu-a and how that affects his relationship with Yeon-su will be interesting to watch.
