Oshi No Ko Season 2 Episode 9 Recap

This episode delivers a powerful opening with a deep dive into Aqua’s emotions. Through his acting, we gain insight into his trauma as he unravels on stage, channelling the grief from his mother’s death into his character’s sorrow. His performance feels raw and intense, reflecting the depth of his inner turmoil.
For the first time, Aqua confronts the darker part of himself—the voice that haunts him for finding joy in acting. He comes to the realization that this entity is a reflection of his own unresolved guilt over his mother’s tragic death and his helplessness in preventing it. This moment elevates the drama and showcases Aqua’s talent as an actor.

Meanwhile, Kana and Akane, the two lead actresses, remain locked in a quiet rivalry, each acknowledging the other’s brilliance. Although both delivered standout performances, their mutual respect prevents any bitterness. Instead, it’s clear that their competition will drive them to grow and improve together as actresses.
Despite the play’s success, Aqua remains focused on his mission to uncover the identity of his father. He seeks out the director, Kindaichi, hoping to gather more information. But Aqua finally reveals to Taiki that he is his older stepbrother.
Oshi No Ko Season 2 Episode 10 Review

This anime is back after taking a torturous break, leaving us all hanging with the big revelation. When Taiki hears that he might be Aqua’s half-brother, his reaction to the news is nothing like we expected. Taiki quickly accepted the situation and even invited Aqua to his abode to have a proper conversation regarding the matter. This meeting was more useful than anything because we finally got the answer that Aqua and the audience had all been waiting for. We finally know the person who is the father of the Hoshino siblings and also the one who might be responsible for the death of Ai.
The answer was unusually unsatisfactory, and the end outcome left Aqua and the audience feeling numb. Is it really the end of a 15-year-long quest for revenge? Can Aqua finally let go of his animosity and embrace his life as it is? Whatever the answer might be, it will be difficult for our hero to accept the harsh and underwhelming reality.

This episode also featured Ruby more than we have seen her previously on screen. And it was a breath of fresh air with her because of her sheer determination towards work. Her career is also just taking off, and she is nowhere near as successful as her brother yet. Plus, the fact that she chose a career as a pop star also signifies how difficult her journey to stardom will be.
This becomes more prominent when Ruby finds out that their YouTube channel has only amassed 20,000 subscribers, which is still a huge feat nonetheless. But the reality is that they still do not have an original song to their name, nor do they have a music video ready. This is why the second half of the episode revolves around the relaunch of Ruby’s new B Komachi group.
Verdict

In this episode, Ruby comes forward as a shining star who truly can charm and motivate anyone. Only with a single video message, Ruby inspired a well-known songwriter who was previously going through a slump to create a hit track for her group. I am especially looking forward to her career graph, and hopefully, we will see her turning heads soon.
