One of Us Is Lying Season 2 finds Bronwyn, Nate (played by Cooper Van Grootel), Cooper and Addy united in another guilt-ridden mystery trap, that threatens to expose the secret about Jake’s Murder. For the unversed, the series revolves around a bunch of high schoolers accused of murdering their classmate Simon. The new season is divided into eight episodes with an average runtime of 45-50 minutes each.
The complete cast of the mystery series includes Marianly Tejada as the straight-A student Bronwyn Rojas, Annalisa Cochrane as the popular cheerleader Addy Prentiss, Chibuikem Uche as the closeted baseball player Cooper Clay, Barrett Carnahan as Addy’s boyfriend Jake Riordan, Mark McKenna as the dead batchmate Simon Kelleher, Jessica McLeod as Simon’s Best Friend Janae Matthews, and Melissa Collazo as Maeve Rojas.
-One of Us Is Lying Season 2 Review Does Not Contain Spoilers-
The second season unfolds many mysteries surrounding the murder bunch, including the death of Jake and the unknown message from Simon. This time, instead of getting threatened by the authorities, the murder bunch gets blackmailed by a secretive identity. Moreover, the gang did make the decision of parting ways but has to reunite again when the streak of unknown messages continues to sabotage their present lives.
Each member of the bunch is forced to complete certain dares, and go along with the commands of the mysterious identity. However, the supposed head Bronwyn decides to outplay the new blackmailer and starts a separate investigation with Cooper, Nate and Addy.
What happens next forms the basis of this slick mystery thriller, which feels a way short of its predecessor. The latest season of the whodunnit show is weak in its suspense element, and also fails to maintain the intrigue. At one point, I was wondering if eight episodes are really the optimum length.
The character arc of Addy was the only one that made some impact on me. Moreover, she was also the only character who gets to explore a lot this season, including a traumatic recurrence of killing her ex-boyfriend. Bronwyn fails to recreate the charm of the first season and is mostly embroiled in her new relationship with Nate.

Cooper, who had to hide his true self earlier, now has to face a forcible revelation to become the star-studded player of the big leagues. Along with this, he is also consumed with the PTSD of Jake’s death, and his guilty conscience.
The setup is only slightly different from the previous season and mostly rides on the tried and tested method. However, it actually becomes repetitive and monotonous in the process. Followed by some painstaking long revelation towards the end.
It’s only the well-kept suspense that tries to make up for the rest of the show. (Even though I was almost irritated by the unnecessary filler episodes, I didn’t see it coming from anywhere).
One of Us Is Lying Season 2 Final Thoughts

If you have the utmost patience to sit through eight episodes, only to find who was the real identity behind the messages, then the series might be worth your time. Otherwise, it’s mostly repetitive, dull and nothing near to its first season.
You can watch the series on Netflix. Let us know your thoughts about it in the comment section below.
