Newtopia Episode 8 Recap
Jae-yoon is overcome with emotions after jumping off the second story inside a bear costume and coming out unscathed. He runs off when he sees zombies coming down the building while Young-joo tries to escape the murderous men who are trying to end her life for no reason. They chase her through a train until she runs into a bunch of zombies, now wondering which would be worse to face off against. Back at hotel, the remaining survivors get overwhelmed with the incoming zombies and Jae-yoon asks them to use a cord as a zip line to make their way down.
Back at the train station, the cocky men face their worst fears when the zombies run after them as Young-joo hides in one of the overhead bins. As everyone glides down from the hotel to safety on the streets, Young-man decides to not follow them and shows them the bite mark on his wrist, leaving everyone downstairs thoroughly heartbroken. They eventually run off and find a car but are unaware that Kyung-sik is still on the road. By the time they get to know this, it’s unfortunately too late and they think the worst. In reality, he sees them drive away and then shoots zombie Young-man dead to put him out of his misery.

Meanwhile, Young-joo is rescued by a woman in the tunnels who rushes her off to safety. She eventually finds a phone and calls her mother and is left overjoyed that she is still alive. Inside a store, Jae-yoon desperately tries to contact Young-joo but to no avail. He calls her mother instead who tells him her location. Jae-yoon decides to go out alone and find Young-joo and bids farewell to his friends before running into the bus terminal. Inside, he runs into a dead end full of zombies and calls out to Young-joo, who hears his screams. They both run towards each other and, at long last, hold one another.
As they try to get out of the station, they come across another hoard of zombies but, this time around, they are surprised to find Jae-yoon’s friends getting rid of them all. After a rather heartwarming reunion, Young-joo asks the team to wait for the lady who rescued her but In-ho tells Jae-yoon that the woman Young-joo had seen was already dead. She imagined her. Either way, they feed her a lie that the lady was escaped and make their escape as well.

As they drive down the road, the announcement direct survives to head to Icheon Port to be taken to Jeju Island, warning everyone to not go to Suseo. As they stop the car to look over at the Han river, a distant explosion rings out over the horizon. They immediately get into the car and drive away, looking forward to what life throws their way.
Newtopia Episode 8 Review

Well, a hopeful as well as depressing for the Newtopia finale and all I can say is that it’s been a treat. Although I found the first few episodes to not live up to the mark, after the series breaks down all of the characters and the zombies rush in, things did pick up quite a bit. I think it’s a rather entertaining Kdrama if you’re looking for something light-hearted and full of great practical effects. And I am glad we got a happy ending for this one. Otherwise it was getting quite dark a few episodes ago!
