Newtopia Episode 7 Review: Danger For Young-joo?

In the last episode of Newtopia, Young-joo saw first-hand the devastating consequences of the zombie apocalypse as hundreds of people were killed under a train. As rescue efforts start, Jae-yoon and his remaining team try to get out of the hotel in one piece aided by Arron Park. However, as the episode ends, both Young-joo and Jae-yoon face a horde of zombies and this time, it seems escape is impossible!

Newtopia Episode 7 Recap

The episode starts with Jae-yoon and the others making a run for it through the vents. It’s a neck-to-neck chase, but Arron Park comes up with a fantastic plan that ultimately kills all the zombies in the vents. Meanwhile, Young-joo is struggling to keep the zombies at bay alone, but the chainsaw definitely helps. As both of them try to run away from the zombies as fast as possible, they come across issues here and there but ultimately are able to get somewhere secure.

A fight breaks out between Kyung-sik and the others, who seem to be going through something. Things get a bit heated when he pulls a gun on Gye-young but Soo-jeong manages to calm things down. As they start to look for a way out inside, and outside, Young-joo comes across a whole bunch of survivors, including Yoon Jong-shin. As she joins the others, Jae-yoon dangles from a window in the skyscraper to shimmy down to the lower level. Against all odds, he is able to get down on a suspended cradle and pull it up to help the others while Young-joo finds a ton of new things to take in order to forge forward.

Of course, the cradle malfunctions in the middle and they have to find another way forward. Just as some zombies are about to break the glass and kill them, the cradle miraculously starts working once again. Unfortunately, the zombies still break through and fall on them. The cradle eventually breaks with Jae-yoon on it while the others get off but thankfully he is able to roll away before becoming a paste on the ground. As the others start to fight, an exhausted Jae-yoon falls asleep while Young-joo goes through the labyrinth of mazes to get out to safety. However, things take a turn when she comes across a group of men who kill anyone and everyone in their path to stop them from turning into zombies or zombies in general.

As she gets away from them, Jae-yoon puts on a bear costume and jumps out of the building in hopes of cushioning his fall.

Newtopia Episode 7: Jisoo

Things are starting to get heated and I am not feeling particularly hopeful for Young-joo, who is navigating zombies and insane humans alone in an apocalyptic world. Zombies are one thing but murderous men are a very different and dangerous ordeal. I am thoroughly scared for her but with only one episode left, I am hoping a meeting is evident with Jae-yoon. Meanwhile, things continue to be funny in Jae-yoon’s place and I am really enjoying Park Jeong-min in the series. He’s quite funny — the last swan dive was thoroughly hilarious.
