Reflection of You episode 3 starts with Hui-ju having a torrid affair with Woo-jae. No, it starts with her friendship with Hae-won. They were both in the German learning class. We also learn about her difficult relationship with her now-husband’s family and her stressful times without her daughter. It’s heartbreaking to watch her go through this but she feels like a bit of a pushover.
We then see her friendship with Hae-won growing as the days progress. We see Hui-ju’s relationship with Hyeong-seong and the fact that she feels a bit lost. In the eventual days, Hae-won helps Hui-ju with her art classes including selecting pencils and describing which pencil is better for what. Hui-ju feels awkward starting at such an old age, however Hae-won tells her that it’s better to start late than to start early and then quit.
Later, in Reflection of You episode 3, Hui-ju and Hae-won get to talking about the difficulties of art school and teaching. However, when Hae-won’s grandfather gets hurt, her friend, Woo-jae, fills in to teach Hui-ju. And this is when all the difficulties arise.
Back in the present in Reflection of You episode 3, Hae-won tells Hui-ju that she doesn’t want anything from her. However, she refuses to believe her. Hae-won apologises to her but she tells her that she should instead apologise to Li-sa and accuses her of coming to Taerim to sabotage her life. However, Hae-won clarifies that getting a job at Taerim seemed like a good way to get a better job in the future and thus she shifted. She had no ulterior motive.
This is when Ho-su arrives from school and she takes him home. She asks him why he was talking to strangers and Ho-su informs her that Hae-won isn’t a stranger. Hui-ju is left shocked at this but is unable to get more information from him. Meanwhile, Hae-won is at the school to get her stuff and comes face-to-face with Seong-hyeon.
He asks her why he would ask Ju-yeong to stop talking to Li-sa instead of mediating. She tells him to be careful and not be fooled. Kids are not to be underestimated and doing so can land him in trouble. This intrigues him more and he asks her what she knows since Li-sa didn’t tell him anything. Hae-won tells him that that’s normal since girls her age don’t tell their fathers anything.
Probed further, Hae-won tells him that she knows about the disciplinary action that will be taken against her – that she will be dismissed. He asks her how she came to know of this and she tells him that it was someone who is concerned about the school. She tells him that it is a cowardly move on his part to do this and refuses to let him tarnish her reputation as a teacher in Reflection of You episode 3.
Later, Seong-hyeon is also concerned about Woo-jae going missing and how the hospital didn’t check Hae-won’s papers properly before releasing him to her. As both Hae-won and Hui-ju try to finish their individual paintings, Hae-won calls someone and lets them know that they left their painting behind.
In a flashback, Woo-jae is taking pictures of a tired Hui-ju. He seems to be smitten by her and says that it feels like he is dreaming. That is when Hui-ju wakes up and realizes she is late. She rushes off to bid Li-sa farewell for her lesson. Meanwhile, Hae-won is at her grandfather’s place and is spending some relaxed moments with him.
Seong-hyeon is harbouring a secret regarding partnering up with a school in Ireland. When and how did he do it? We don’t know since Seong-hyeon refuses to answer. Does it have anything to do with Woo-jae and his bedridden condition? In spite of Seong-hyeon telling Young-sun that it is nothing to be afraid of, she does not believe him and asks Hyeong-gi to look into the matter.
At work in Reflection of You episode 3, Hui-ju is intrigued to learn that a new artist will host an exhibition at the gallery. She goes to check it out but is left confused when she realizes that the portrait looks like her. The director seems to think so too and they discuss how personal the painting feels. As they talk, Hae-won is seen peeking at them.
In another flashback, Hui-ju gets frustrated with Woo-jae’s teaching style. She is tired of drawing the same thing over and over again. When she asks him whether they can end the session there, he leaves without another word. She later finds his sketchbook where he has made a sketch of her while she was drawing. During the next session, she realizes that he does, indeed, sketch while she’s sketching.
When she gets up, he compliments her saying that his left side is prettier than her right. She notices that he’s saying it as if that’s a bad thing, however, he says that he had to muster up a lot of courage to say it.
Back in the present in Reflection of You episode 3, Hui-ju takes out Woo-jae’s sketchbook and throws it in the fire. After she leaves, someone comes in and (apparently) retrieves it. Meanwhile, Ju-yeong is editing the video that she took of Seong-hyeon and Hae-won at school and seems quite proud of it.
Later, Young-sun tries to force Hui-ju to send Ho-su to a boarding school. However, she refuses, saying that can be tackled later on since he’s still very young. Young-sun and Min-seo argue with Hui-ju about her parenting styles and she just smiles and takes it. I mean, she talks back but the level of disrespect is too much for Hui-ju’s quiet and smiling answers. It boils my blood that she allows anyone to talk to her like that.
At the school, Seong-hyeon is told that they cannot fire Hae-won since Hui-ju slapped her. However, they can dismiss her which would result in her losing her job and her reputation. But if they do that, Hae-won might file an appeal to review the case. That will result in a huge scandal. Seong-hyeon remembers what Hae-won had told her and they all agree that the decision needs to be made as soon as possible.
That night in Reflection of You episode 3, Hae-won and Hui-ju have dinner together. She tries to thank Hui-ju for the school’s decision, but Hui-ju tells her that she had nothing to do with it. She further tells her that she doesn’t want to meet her anymore since both she and Li-sa feel uncomfortable around her. That is when Hae-won lets her know that Woo-jae sends his regards.
In a flashback, we see Woo-jae and Hui-ju fighting wherein she tries to leave. However, a child starts to cry and he takes him and leaves. She implores him to stop fighting and to give Ho-su back. However, he tells her that if she wants to leave, she can. But she can’t take Ho-su with her. Meanwhile, Ho-su has a great time with Seong-hyeon, without any knowledge that he is not his father. Hae-won adds that Woo-jae misses her.
- There’s something very fishy going on between Hyeong-gi and Min-seo. I might be totally overreacting, but it feels like he’s abusive in some way.
- Li-sa is a total brat and abuses Ju-yeong. I sometimes feel like Hae-won was correct with her analysis.
