Netflix’s Izzy’s Koala World Review: Come Cuddle Some Koalas!

Izzy’s Koala World is a documentary series on Netflix that follows an 11-year-old “koala whisperer”, Izzy Bee, as she and veteran mother take care of various wild and injured koalas.

This series is absolutely the sweetest thing out there. Be it the extremely cute koalas or Izzy herself, the series is a ray of sunshine during an otherwise sad time.

Izzy takes care of the koalas in her care like it’s her second nature. There are a lot of these furry creatures that come to the koala hospital everyday like Rosie, Chompy, Muffin and Twinkle and some more long-time residents like Juliet, StormBoy and Izzy’s best friend Princess Leia. The little girl names all of her friends with much love and affection, and it doesn’t matter how short your visit is, if you are in Izzy’s care, you get a name. The koalas, too, seem to trust Izzy a lot. From the first episode, we see how much Leia trusts Izzy.

Her dedication to make the koalas feel at home is commendable as well. In one episode, to make little Chompy feed properly, she learns all there is on how to be a good koala mum. It’s heartwarming to see such a young girl care so much for these animals.

Izzy goes to say hi to her friends in the morning, gives them lots of cuddles, sleeps with them when necessary and does everything in her power to help them heal faster. The end goal, ofcourse, is to set them free and let them go back to the place where they belong.

Additionally, this isn’t just a cutesy show without anything to learn. There’re tons of information about koalas and their lives. Example – koalas can sleep for 18-20 hours a day! That’s crazy, right?

However, it also has its emotional elements. Throughout Izzy’s Koala World, we see her strong bond with Leia. However, the time for parting comes soon and it’s bittersweet. To see the little one go up a tree on her own is truly one of the most sweetest and saddest moments.

With only around 15-minute-long episodes, Izzy’s Koala World is fun and informative, with loads of cuteness. The show also shows us various breath-taking views of Magnetic Island, situated off the coast of Australia. There are many expansive shots of the beautiful fields and blue waters that will make you wish for that holiday. You can also see some really cute kangaroos hopping about!

The show also features some really cute animations that pop up on the screen to make the viewing experience sweet. So, expect tons of red floating hearts whenever a koala is happy. In addition to this, the background score is always happy and cheerful, to keep you in the spirit of things!

We also see a little bit of the family’s bond. Izzy and are parents are super close. Her mother’s her confidant if it’s anything koala-related, but her father is her partner in crime when it comes to mischief. The three of them are always out and about to find ways to make the animals’ lives easier.

Summing up: Izzy’s Koala World
