Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 11 recap:
Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 11 starts with the series reminding us that Hye-jin and Du-sik had expressed their feelings for each other. Fans are going to be happy to know that yes, we do see the two sharing a kiss again. And yes, it is as epic. Hye-jin’s anxiety as expressing her feelings for someone who might or might not feel the same for her is palpable, but Du-sik showing her that she likes her back is what makes this the sweetest moment!
Both their expressions of love are so genuine and heartfelt and Du-sik then proceeds to take Hye-jin home while holding hands. The two laugh and joke the way to her home and both can’t help but blush at the sudden turn of events.
However, as they reach her home, Hye-jin asks Du-sik whether they can hold off being a couple for a few days. When he asks her the reason, she says that Seong-hyeon had told her that he liked her. Confused, he asks her whether she’s now having second thoughts now that she has to dump him. She, however, laughs and asks her whether he is jealous. Their conversation then hilariously steers towards him trying to articulate how much he likes her.
Anyway, the conversation ends at Hye-jin telling Du-sik not to call her until she has sorted everything with Seong-hyeon and he leaves annoyed at the thought that they can’t talk just as they are about to start dating. However, just 5 minutes later in Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 11, Hye-jin calls Du-sik and they talk about how they had met before… twice! Both are shocked at the fact that how small a world this is and although she calls it destiny, he calls it coincidence.
The next day in Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 11, Hye-jin asks Seong-hyeon to meet her and he abandons his work and rushes to Gongjin to meet her. At the café, Hye-jin talks about her life at that time – how much rundown she used to feel and how she never had the time to even eat. In short, her life back then was quite miserable and, in that mess, he was the only person who cared for her.
Thus, she had feelings for him at that time and although she knew that he felt the same, she feigned ignorance because she thought that it wouldn’t work. She apologizes for not being honest then and tells him honestly that he likes someone else now. Seong-hyeon looks hurt, of course, but thanks her for being honest. Seong-hyeon’s character is truly sweet – he tells her that she was a lovely person back then and he loved her for who she was. He says that she was her first love and she, too, says the same. Chun-jae cries watching the scene going down.
Outisde, in Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 11, Hye-jin gives Seong-hyeon his charm back and as they are finishing their talk, Du-sik comes over to them. Seong-hyeon asks him to have a word and the two cryptically talk about whomever she likes. However, he gives up on the ruse and tells Du-sik straight-up to take care of her and keep her safe and happy. And then immediately they go back to bickering with each other like little kids.
Hye-jin and Du-sik go back home with her pestering him to tell her what he talked about with Seong-hyeon. He gives her a brief rundown and Hye-jin immediately follows this information up with “let’s keep this relationship a secret.” Du-sik agrees to do that, although he knows that everyone will get to know iit anyway. However, as they cuddle on the couch, Mi-seon walks in and tells them to lock the front door from now on. The two are left embarrassed as she walks away.
The next day at the café in Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 11, the two get just a tiny bit cozy because Chun-jae is yet to come in. Du-sik showcases her coffee-making talents to his new girlfriend but accidentally spills milk over himself. As she trying to clean it off his face, Chun-jae walks in. She slaps him and leaves, shocking both the guys.
Later in Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 11, Hye-jin comes over to deliver food to Hye-jin and Mi-seon. The two teases Hye-jin about her food choices and then Hye-jin apologizes to Du-sik in private for slapping him. Just as that apology is about to end though, Nam-suk walks in and Hye-jin, again, hits him causing him to fall and injure himself.
Listen. Ok. Not to overanalyze, but it’s funny when you hit someone out of the blue once. Doing the same thing thrice doesn’t have the shock factor to it and just makes it worse because you’re hitting another person and injuring them. In this case, Hye-jin is causing bodily harm to her boyfriend which is a huge no-no. If the roles were reversed, there would be a huge uproar. And yes, I do know that she has issues that are making her do all she can to keep her relationship a secret, but it’s not funny because Hye-jin is an adult who is acting like a naïve child.
That evening, Hye-jin gets frustrated when Du-sik does not text her back. She goes to his house and although he’s not there yet, she lets herself in. As she’s waiting for him, she hears him with other people and rushes to his bedroom to hide. Du-sik is home with the three oldies to show them his candles and is shocked when he realizes that Hye-jin is there as well. He gives them the candles for free and rushes them out the door, much to their confusion!
Du-sik finds Hye-jin sitting in his closet in Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 11 and carries her out after her leg falls asleep. Hye-jin tells him, while in his arms, to check his texts from now on and to never lie to her. She then notices that he has marked the date when they got together with hearts in his calendar. How cute!
While going back home, the two again come across the townspeople and Hye-jin, in a panic, twists his arm around. He calls out in pain and everyone comes rushing to his aid and start berating Hye-jin for hurting him like that. They tell each other to not engage and then take them away from each other to keep their distance.
The next day in Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 11, Hye-jin visits the café for her morning coffee, hoping to find Du-sik alone. Unfortunately, Chae-jun is there as well and he doesn’t let her get close to Du-sik, much to their annoyance. His phone is lost as well, so that’s not happening either.
Her idea to get lunch from the Chinese restaurant falls flat too, much to her frustration. In fact, they can’t meet outside anywhere without someone or the other interfering. Thus, they wait an entire day to go on their first date together and Hye-jin is absolutely over the moon.
That night, Hye-jin runs over to meet Du-sik. The couple embraces and are over the moon to finally hold each other. They then have the cheesiest (but cutest. My heart can’t take it.) conversation which the entire neighbourhood overhears. Du-sik tries to make up some excuse, but Hye-jin comes clean and tells everyone that she wants to love Du-sik openly. That’s when Hwa-jeong tells them that they all knew from the past 3 days. The recap is hilarious.
The last scene of Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 11 is just so cute, warm and happy that it’ll melt your heart. I promise.
- Yeong-guk wonders why Hwa-jeong had asked for a divorce. The latter gets a prospective date which Yeong-guk is not happy to hear about.
- Yeong-guk and Seong-hyeon have a conversation about relationships, complications and grief.
- Eun-cheol confesses his feelings to Mi-seon but asks her to take things slowly.
Regardless of the madness that was today’s episode, I cannot wait to see what lies in store for our lovebirds, what the flashbacks to Du-sik’s mental health mean and if these two stays together. Hopefully, they will because otherwise, my heart will shatter into a few pieces. That being said, hopefully, the series won’t base its funny moments on causing Du-sik pain considering, firstly, that’s not funny and secondly, no one wants to see him get hurt, joke or not!
Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha is streaming on Netflix.
