Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 10 recap:

We start off Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 10 with Hye-jin and Seong-hyeon talking to each other about meeting up after he comes back – he has to tell her something. We all know what it is, although unfortunately, our leading lady is quite clueless. However, she is quite pleased that the streetlights are now fixed, thanks to Du-sik.

Anyway, smiling, she goes home but is quickly followed by a mysterious man who takes the opportunity of her almost-closed door and just follows her into her home in Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 10. As she is threatened by the man, which feels very forced, by the way, they hear her door opening again. He goes to check it out and Du-sik comes in just in time to beat him up.

As he’s calling the police and checking in on Hye-jin, the pervert attacks him and in the ensuing knife-fight, Du-sik gets injured. Hye-jin is absolutely worthless and does not help Du-sik in any way, but whatever. Du-sik subdues the guy and the pervert is taken away by the police later. The pervert angle turned out totally disappointing since they hyped it up previously quite a lot, but then they just ended it without going too deep into the story.

Moving on, Seong-hyeon comes running during this time and is quite shocked to see flashing lights at Hye-jin’s house. Meanwhile, Du-sik and Hye-jin go to the hospital to get his wound checked out. Turns out stitches are enough and it’s not that serious, much to Hye-jin’s relief.

However, Hye-jin is hurt too, and Du-sik tells her off for not telling the doctor sooner. She downplays her injury in Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 10 and tells him that it’s nothing compared to what he faced. Du-sik, though, isn’t convinced at all but that can wait as Hye-jin starts crying since she’s so scared. Seong-hyeon rushes in just then and asks Hye-jin whether she’s ok or not. But he senses the tension in the room and makes up some excuse to leave.

Anyway, as the formalities end at the hospital, Du-sik asks Hye-jin to spend the night at his home since her’s is now a crime scene. At his place, she tells him that she needs a change of clothes and Du-sik tells her that he can either get some from her place, or she can wear something of his. After an awkward minute, Hye-jin agrees to wear his clothes. When she comes out wearing an oversized tee-shirt and pants, Du-sik seems to be engrossed at the sight.

Anyway, he offers her chamomile tea and a blanket to calm her nerves and give her a sense of security in Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 10. He also helps treat her cramp. Hye-jin’s character, in my opinion, feels a bit confusing. At times she comes across as a very damsel in distress, although at other times she’s headstrong and resilient. She showcases herself as a very strong woman, which we love, but doesn’t live up to those expectations when she is faced with a problem.

Anyway, they then talk about his grandfather and his relationship with him. He opens up about his guilt regarding his grandfather’s death and it’s a tender moment between the two which is cut short by Hye-jin’s tummy grumbling. Meanwhile, we see Seong-hyeon still thinking about Hye-jin and the time she broke up with her boyfriend. We get a flashback to that time in Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 10 and, honestly, this is the energy we need from Hye-jin!

Anyway, as nighttime rolls around and it’s time for bed, Hye-jin just cannot calm down enough to sleep alone. She’s obviously traumatized and scared and even the wind outside is scaring her. When she refuses to let Du-sik out of her sight, they crash in the living room. However, Du-sik tells her that he will put her to sleep in 5 minutes and asks her to lie down. He reads her a story and she does fall asleep, as predicted. However, when he tries to get up, he realizes that she is holding on to her shirt.

A sleeping Hye-jin asks Du-sik who was the first person he had told about his grandfather. Du-sik jokes that it was a very warm-hearted person so which Hye-jin says, damn it! The next day, the townspeople are very curious about the entire incident and haggle Hye-jin and Du-sik about why they are together all the time. They also band together to take care of Hye-jin. This scene feels very genuine and interesting as the townspeople are equal parts gossipy and loving. As Du-sik said previously, they will not let anyone from outside hurt or take advantage of them.

Anyway, it’s Du-sik’s grandfather’s memorial service and Hye-jin arrives at Du-sik’s place to help him with everything. After Du-sik insists, she also stays back for the event. Afterwards, as they are having dinner, Hye-jin peels crabs for Du-sik as they talk about his relationship with the dish. Du-sik is pretty surprised at her action and when she says that it takes a lot of love to peel shrimps and crabs for someone, it makes for an awkward rest of the evening.

Hye-jin later practically runs back home in Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 10, very flustered with what she had said before. However, she finds Seong-hyeon waiting for her in front of her house. They go out to have dinner where Seong-hyeon unloads a whole speech for her regarding his feelings for her. As Du-sik tells his grandfather about Hye-jin, Seong-hyeon’s admission of feelings has her in a bind.

As she talks to Mi-seon, it is apparent that Hye-jin isn’t very interested in Seong-hyeon. Mi-seon suggests that they should go to Seoul that weekend to clear their minds. As the weekend rolls over, the girls are excited to start their vacation off but Hye-jin remembers that she might have left the curling iron plugged. Mi-seon asks Du-sik to unplug it as a means of making easy money in Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 10. He finds the curling iron unplugged but uses the spare time to install security locks in Hye-jin’s home.

Later that day, Gam-ri tells Du-sik to take his feelings for Hye-jin seriously as life might seem short, but it’s actually not. She further asks him to be honest with himself regarding this matter. At night, out having dinner with Mi-seon, Hye-jin suddenly realizes that she has feelings for Du-sik. She rushes back to tell him and after a bit of searching finds him at the docks. She tells him about her feelings for him and although she tells him to not say anything, he jumps the hoops and kisses her instead.

The last scene of Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 10 is of Du-sik at Hye-jin’s home realizing that the little girl from the beach all those years ago was Hye-jin.

Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 10 is interesting and plays around with the characters, their motivations and the warmth that is apparent in Gongjin and within its people. The complexities of the characters and the reasons why they do what they do are interesting to watch and also tells us that life isn’t as easy as we might make it out to be. Also, we’re excited to watch this love story unfold!

  1. Ah! I’m so disappointed with the idea that this was a legitimate published review as the chosen format read more like Reddit post. Like, is this the writer’s style or were they forced to review a show they have no interest in? For an article that was quite harsh with offering a choppy synopsis and an ill character portrayal, the episode was given an awfully high rating. Episode 10 was such a pivotal episode and everything I read was a disservice to the show.

    • hello, sorry you thought that! 🙁
However, this isn’t a review post, it’s a recap. So, just dishing out some spoilers and keep it casual.
