My Man is Cupid Episode 4 Recap
After threatening the valet parker, he agrees to tell the truth. The duo finds that the Poppy Clinic owner hired the man to scare Baek-ryun as their sales are crumbling due to her. When Sang-hyuk tries to take them to the police station, Baek-ryun forgives them and leaves the clinic. During their conversation, Baek-ryun shares her life with Sang-hyuk making him understand how lonely she has been since a child, growing up in an orphanage. He becomes determined to find a mate for her. When he takes a walk outside that night, we’re introduced to the deity of red thread reading a story to a young child.

Looking at the young child’s wit, he remembers Sang-hyuk’s personality 500 years back. Sang-hyuk’s flashback comes and we see him happily uniting people with the red thread. However, he also tends to unite couples who are in love even if their red thread is not attached. His cupid friends warn him to not mess with the deity’s plan but he simply ignores it. The deity who fixes red thread watches Sang-hyuk’s behaviour and smirks.
One night as he wanders about, he sees the castle maid (Baek-ryun’s past life character) praying to meet the love of her life. In fact the one she is destined with is the King’s heir (Jae-hee’s past life character). Looking at this, Sang-hyuk shoots the arrow at her but misses it as he gets distracted by her smile. The arrow shoots at him, making him fall in love with her. When the King dies, the Queen prepares to kill the Heir. The maid overhears this and tries to warn the King’s heir who is now the King. But the Queen’s men attack her. Sang-hyuk saves the maid and treats her wounds.

When she gets healed she runs back to save the King. Seeing this, Sang-hyuk gets jealous and the deity summons. He warns him to not meddle with human life. Apparently, the maid was supposed to die so she could join the King’s heir in their afterlife. The deity creates a ring of fire around the four cupids to punish them but Sang-hyuk walks through the fire, burning his wings as he decides to pursue the woman he loves. Nevertheless, it’s understood that the King’s heir and the maid died and Sang-hyuk and his cupid friends were cursed after that.
Back to the present day, Jae-hee keeps waking up from his nightmare, picturing his past life. He still doesn’t understand the connection and considers it a bad dream. The detectives find the third witness (that’s what they think) and meet her. The woman however says that she never was around the time of Eun-seo’s abduction. The same day, Sang-hyuk meets Baek-ryun and promises to find her a man. This pisses her off as he is unable to understand her feelings for him.

He even comes to her clinic and asks her about her ideal type to which she names certain famous South Korean actors and demands a man younger than her. Sang-hyuk notes it all down and asks the Love Room owner (the man who manages the cupids) for certain young men to set a date for her. Jae-hee drops at the clinic to check on Alexandra and also discusses past lives with Baek-ryun.
In the car, Jae-hee once again has a nightmare and instantly wakes up. He decides to check up on the third witness once again to avoid any mistakes. When he visits her apartment he meets her mother and requests her to open the door as the girl hasn’t been answering the doorbell. When they open the door, they find the young woman hung and dead causing panic.

The news states that the third witness has also died suspiciously after the police interrogated her. Baek-ryun, amidst the crowd, watches her apartment buzzing with police not knowing that she’s the one the police are actually searching for. Sang-hyuk also watches the news and remembers Jeong-ah.
My Man is Cupid Episode 4 Review

Finally, the backstory is shown, a bit, and things are making sense. If only Sang-hyuk finds that Baek-ryun is the woman he has been loving for 500 years, the series will become fired up. However, he might also regret his actions for breaking Jae-hee and Baek-ryun’s relationship which was meant to be. Either way, Jae-hee will also remember his past life, and definitely the killer will be a part of all of their past lives.
The second lead syndrome is starting because Jae-hee and Baek-ryun’s romance 500 years ago seemed genuinely beautiful. The King falling in love with the maid was broken up by Sang-hyuk which is a shame. But let’s not judge quickly because we don’t yet know what happened after the maid ran back to the palace because the King’s heir that is Jae-hee might have made some wrong decision. Hopefully, the good pair will match in the end.
