His one sentence seems to hold a deeper meaning to him. In his flashbacks, we can see Mr. Gu dressed in posh clothes and in a rather sophisticated look than how he lives now. We hear a woman shouting at him to get off the train but how did it land him in such an awful condition remains a mystery.

My Liberation Notes Episode 4 Review

The tone of the scene changes to a bright one in this episode. It is indicative of developing changes in Mi-jeong’s life. She has started introspecting and living more than before. She has started the process of liberating herself. Mr. Gu looks like he has gone through a tragedy but Mi-jeong’s arrival in his life also seems to have started changing him. Even though he doesn’t show it openly, he wants to feel whole like Mi-jeong wants. It looks like the lives of all these young people of Sanpo are about to change.
