My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Episode 12 Recap

This episode marked a major turning point with plenty of impactful moments. Things took a rough turn when the much-anticipated concert Pop Step had been looking forward to faced cancellation due to a sudden power outage. With the situation becoming chaotic and delays inevitable, Koichi encourages Pop Step to do what she does best: captivate the crowd without worrying about appearances.
Rising to the moment, Pop Step delivers an energetic and heartfelt performance, lighting up the atmosphere despite the challenges. However, beneath the surface joy of the concert, the real storm is brewing in the streets. The episode’s emotional centrepiece is the intense confrontation between Knuckleduster and his estranged daughter, Tamao.

It’s revealed that after a heated argument with her father, Tamao ran away from home. This left her vulnerable to the manipulations of Hachisuka, who took advantage of her emotional state. This single event tore Knuckleduster’s world apart, and he has been chasing the fragments ever since.
Their clash is brutal, raw, and emotionally charged. Knuckleduster is no longer just a vigilante on a mission; he’s a father trying desperately to save his daughter.
My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Episode 13 Review

In this episode, things start off on a lighter note as we see Pop Step enjoying the fame and fan letters she got because of her stellar performance. She is happy that she could do something with her talents, and Koichi is also glad for her. Later, Koichi again encounters a pretty strong villain, and Captain Celebrity comes right in the nick of time to save him. Though Captain Celebrity complained later in his house about how Koichi’s involvement is more of a hassle than help, it is undoubtedly true that the number of strong villains has increased a lot more in the city.
Koichi and Pop Step also discuss this, and they acknowledge how the increase of strong villains is somewhat different from the effects of the Trigger drug. We get more insight into this matter when the police discuss this with Aizawa. Here, they theorise that someone must have artificially enhanced the bodies of the villains so that they can endure the overdose of Trigger.

Somewhere else, Captain Celebrity was doing a commercial with Ingenium, and things became quite problematic there. The mysterious man who got the bee from Hachisuka caused a huge crash to happen here. Not only that, the bat villain that Ingenium fought in a previous episode comes back to get revenge on everyone who made his capture happen. This includes Koichi, who at that moment was performing at the fest where Pob Step was also present.
Needless to say, things become quite chaotic in this segment. The way things go forward might not be very good for Koichi’s heroic image, but it makes Captain Celebrity acknowledge the importance of his existence. However, Knuckleduster is still nowhere to be seen, and he is also staying away from both Pop Step and Koichi. Not only that, but he even leaves his punching equipment with Koichi.
Verdict

The season ended on a sad but also hopeful note, and honestly, I loved it. This anime never once tried to be something that it was not, and even though it played it safe, it was entertaining till the end. I am definitely hopeful for its return and looking forward to the second season.
