My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 24 Review- A Young Woman’s Declaration

Ochaco Uraraka is a weird character. She was, at one point, the most popular female character in a show that’s full of very strong personalities. That was a long while back, however. Almost eight years, if you can believe it. Ochaco was then slamming Iida and coming up just short against Bakugo in a fight that featured the best of both of their personalities. Ochaco had dreams and aspirations of earning a lot of money to lift her family from poverty. Somewhere along the way, Ochaco got lost in the shuffle and just wasn’t that necessary in the show anymore.

As her appearances became more and more sporadic, her character never got the chance to adapt to the show’s new tone. The show had grown up a lot and left her basic motivations behind. She still remained a sweet and innocent character who admired Deku for his unshakable desire to save people, which wasn’t much apart from a good source of motivation. My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 24 didn’t see her character change or evolve much either, but she was still the most useful character to do what needed to be done.

The wide-eyed, sweet girl was the only one who could convince the unreasonable residents of UA High that a literal child, who only left to protect all of them in the first place, deserved to live there and rest up. It was her innocence and friendship with Deku that could reach the hearts of that many, and even though the dialogue came across as a little clunky, the meaning behind it was extremely deep and meaningful and featured an anime namedrop that wasn’t groan-inducing. She did a fantastic job in My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 24 and deserved a long mention because of that.

There is a deeper conversation that needs to be had about positions of power and the growing distrust that our society has towards them. While they have done everything they can to deserve that distrust in our real world, the world of My Hero Academia is much more idealistic and reliant on the good guys to go up against the bad ones. These people have never truly known what true corruption looks like and are still adamant about taking all of their anger out on the few heroes that are left standing in the fight against evil. They will try and kick a 16-year-old boy out who almost died to protect them multiple times without remorse.

My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 24 was also an extremely emotional outing like the previous three episodes. For once, emotion was at the centre of an episode instead of just being a part of it. The storytelling at this point is extremely different from what anyone would have thought it would be a few years ago. However, that is also the reason the show feels so fascinating to watch again. The charm that had faded a bit is well and truly back, even if it took a lot to get back here. This was fantastic.
Verdict
My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 24 was close to being the most emotional outing in the show so far. It gave a spotlight to some forgotten characters and did wonders for the main one- Deku.
