Deku leaves All Might My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 22

The pressure that is on Deku currently is unlike anything we have ever seen before in this show. Since his exit from UA High, he has had the weight of the world on his shoulders, and despite being strong enough to move mountains and leave craters, he has started to crumble beneath the responsibility of saving the world. Sure, he is not alone in the endeavour (ha), but as the last carrier of One For All, he is more powerful and is targeted more than the rest of his compatriots combined.

The kid who used to want to save the world with a smile on his face doesn’t have a reason to smile anymore, and that might just be the saddest part of everything. The bright-eyes smiling kid who wanted to be the #1 hero like his idol All might and worshipped the ground that he walked on said that he didn’t need All Might anymore in My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 22, in a scene that broke the hearts of everyone who has been following his journey since the start. The worst part about that was that he wasn’t even wrong. All Might being with Deku exposes the powerless teacher to more danger than Deku can afford.

Deku has had to forget being a kid in order for this mission to work, and like all kids, he does not have much regard for himself and his safety while doing so. That boy will die while saving the world if he isn’t saved himself, which My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 22 managed to convey with a lot of success. Deku has been fighting inner and outer demons for a while, and this is a battle that might finally be too much for him. Well, unless he gets some help. A lot of it, in fact.

My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 22 was absolutely fantastic. It was a very welcome harkening back to Deku’s origins and pulled us back from how far he has gotten just to see the gravity of his situation. Not only that, but it gave somebody other than him a chance to shine in a way that made absolute and total sense within the plot and their character arcs. The UA High is getting back into the story, and they are not going to let anything happen to Deku. If Deku had accomplished anything over the past 5 seasons, it was that he made a bunch of friends who won’t stop looking out for him.

My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 22 was also highly emotional. The same people Deku tried to protect by leaving them behind were the ones who did not ever let go of him. No matter who All For One targeted and no matter how dejected Deku got with the world, his past did not leave him behind. For once, this can be called a good thing. This episode was all about Deku and his newest form, and no matter how strong and scary it is, inside that mask is a boy who still retains the heart of gold. The very same with which he once punched a zero-point robot just to save someone who was kind to him.

Verdict

My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 22 was the exact kind of episode the show needed. It was highly emotional and featured many fan-favourite characters who fit into this show like the final piece of a very intricate puzzle.
