My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 15 Review- Evil Breach

All For One Tomura Shigaraki My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 15

“Is there no end to the misery” is what I would ask if I didn’t already know better. Yes, there is no end to this. In fact, after this episode’s events, it will only keep getting worse. The biggest villain in the world escaping the harshest prison at a time when the public’s trust in the justice system was at rock bottom was always going to be a harsh prospect, and the execution of the moment, while handled masterfully, left a feeling of dread not unlike most other episodes of this season.

Tartarus, the massive secret prison, wasn’t shown to us more than a couple of small glimpses throughout the show’s runtime, for its power lay in its mystique. It was a prison equipped enough to house All For One, which made it a place worth fearing. However, no task is too big, and no prison is too strong for villains with only chaos and destruction in mind and this much power. The destruction sequence was very well done, and even though it was short and almost ended at the halfway mark of the episode, it had plenty to offer in way of entertainment.

Todoroki and Friends My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 15

Not just that, but the show appears to give us resolution for some plotlines that have been brewing for several years at this point, as breaking open Tartarus also meant that the previous villains of the series, who were also locked in there, have been let go to cause chaos once again. Not only does this mean villains like Muscular and Overhaul have now been unleashed, but actual game changers like hero killer Stain are also now free to increase their influence on society.

My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 15 also established that Midnight, a teacher of UA High and somebody who we had known since season 1, had died in the confrontation with the villains. That brought to front and centre the plight of the heroes in this situation, as they did their best in this situation and put their lives in danger, just to receive nothing but scorn and disdain from the general public because they essentially lost the fight. Not only did they lose the fight, but also the entire justice system that kept them afloat.

Several essays could be written about how the world has changed in the series since its start and how the ideological society it portrayed earlier could have never been sustainable in this day and age. The general public has lost most of their respect for authoritative figures and governments, even more so in 2023 than in 2016. Thus, flipping the story on its head like this was probably the best thing the writer could have done. It has also given us perhaps the best season of the show yet, so that’s another thing to praise My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 15 for.

Verdict

My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 15 was dark, gripping, and disorienting as it plunged the world into even more darkness than earlier. The age of heroes seems to be over.
