My Happy Marriage Season 2 Episode 7 Recap
The new year arrives, giving our couple a brief respite after the chaos they endured with Usui. Meanwhile, Crown Prince Takaihito issued a warning about an impending threat that could disrupt the current peace. At the same time, Miyo struggles to adjust to her role as Kiyoka’s partner. During a visit to the shrine, they stumble upon an unusual gathering.
The Gifted Communion has started holding public demonstrations, spreading misinformation about the grotesque beings. They claim that the government is concealing the existence of evolved grotesque creatures and insist that the only way to combat them is by possessing special abilities.

According to their teachings, anyone can gain these powers without noble lineage, making their movement appealing to the public. Though authorities quickly disperse such gatherings, their presence is growing, causing concern.
Even newspapers contributed to the unrest, publishing misleading reports that cast the government in a negative light while glorifying the Gifted Communion. As tensions rise, the situation becomes more troubling for the royal family and Miyo.
My Happy Marriage Season 2 Episode 8 Review

The situation at the palace is not that great, as some corrupt ministers plan on utilizing the confusing situation in their favor. They do not like that Prince Takaihito has a tremendous amount of power in his hand, and they are willing to stand in his way. They also do not care that the Gifted Communion is getting more powerful, as there is a chance that some of the high-ranking ministers are already a part of the Gifted Communion.

On the other hand, Miyo is living in the palace, and Hazuki and Prince Takaihito throw a party so that she becomes more comfortable with them. At this reception, Kaoruko also joins them, and we get an interesting insight that maybe she and Godo are romantically linked. Here, all the girls talk about love and the regrets they had in pursuing it. Hazuki shares her part about the fact that she is still in love with her ex-husband and wishes she could undo the mistakes she made in the past.

Things become more stressful when a minister tries to bribe Arata to work for him. It is apparent that Arata also loses his composure after he is approached by Usui. Hopefully, he will not go against the protagonists or try to woo Miyo. But the way he acts around her hints towards a possibility. Apart from that, we also have a rather unexpected romantic element towards the end. Miyo and Kiyoka are forced into a situation where they will have to share a futon, and it was entirely orchestrated by Prince Takaihito.
Verdict

I liked today’s episode as it was light-hearted but, at the same time, showcased all the problems that were happening in the political sphere. The romance aspect definitely becomes more intense towards the end as Kiyoka becomes upfront about his feelings. Miyo, however, is still apprehensive to return his sentiments. This is a new experience for her, and she is rightfully scared. Plus, the confusing times around her must be throwing her off and making her nervous about everything.
