My Happy Marriage Season 2 Episode 1 Recap
The episode opens with Miyo experiencing a peculiar dream about her husband, which jolts her awake. While discussing the dream’s implications in the Kudou household, Arata makes an appearance, cementing his role as an ally this season. With his expertise in dream-related abilities, Miyo seeks his insights about her powers. However, Arata reassures her that they may not be spiraling out of control.
Later, during an outing with Hazuki, Miyo and Kiyoka encounter Tadakiyo Kudou, Kiyoka’s father and the former head of the Kudou household. Tadakiyo requests Kiyoka’s assistance in investigating a grotesque phenomenon, but Kiyoka declines outright. However, when the Prince himself makes the same request, Kiyoka agrees and decides to take Miyo to his family home. This leads to the central theme of the episode, Miyo’s introduction to her in-laws.

While her father-in-law, Tadakiyo is kind-hearted and jovial, her mother-in-law, Fuyu, is harsh and critical. The strained relationship between Kiyoka and Fuyu becomes evident, and for good reason. Fuyu is quick to pass judgment based on appearances and undermines others with cutting remarks.
My Happy Marriage Season 2 Episode 2 Review

Time at her in-laws is not going smoothly for Miyo, and the reason is obvious. Her mother-in-law absolutely detests her and even makes a substantial plan to get rid of her once and for all. She calls for Miyo and relentlessly insults her for not being fit enough for her son. She also claims that Miyo is only reliable as a servant and, hence, should start acting like one. Miyo, who wants to gain Fuyu’s favor, agrees to this idea and wears servant’s clothes to start doing household work.
Here, even the servants of the Kudou household become intrigued as to how could a daughter of a noble house managed to do housework so precisely. Miyo receives even more hatred from Fuyu because she thinks she can oust Miyo by giving her difficult tasks, which does not happen. Everything reaches a tipping point when, out of anger, Fuyu tries to slap Miyo.

In this episode, we also discover more about the threat of demons in the area of the Kudou household. Kiyoka finds out that a cult is behind all the abnormalities happening in his area and discovers himself in a scuffle with one of its members. The cult is against the Crown Prince, and Kiyoka decides to investigate this matter thoroughly. He also feels especially bad that he brought Miyo into this mess by bringing her along.

Here, we see just how resilient and headstrong Miyo can be when she wants. Even though she has a cowering personality and shudders away at even the slightest scolding, when it comes to her husband, Miyo remains strong-willed. The more Fuyu wants Miyo to go away on her own accord, the more she states that she will not leave her husband’s side. Miyo even instructs Kiyoka to support her from the background and not meddle or try to help her in any way.
Verdict

Today’s episode was interesting, and it portrays the stubborn nature of Miyo that comes out from time to time. In the backdrop, we also see the looming threat of demons, which will be explored more in the next episode. Hopefully, things will get better for her.
