My Happy Marriage Season 2 Episode 1 Review

A new season is here, and we are starting off on a promising note as Miyo finally gets to meet her in-laws. The episode begins with Miyo having a strange dream about her beloved husband, and she wakes up in shock. While discussing the meaning behind this dream in the Kudou household, we see Arata being present there, proving his role as an ally in this season. As it is his area to understand the nature of the dream sight ability, he is asked by Miyo about her powers running rampant, which he says might not be the case.

Later, when the couple were going for an outing with Hazuki, they stumbled upon Tadakiyo Kudou, the former head of the Kudou household and Kiyoka’s father. He quickly puts forward a request to investigate a grotesque but was outright denied by his son. Only after Kiyoka gets the same request from the Prince, himself does he agree to take Miyo to his house. The main factor in this episode is Miyo’s first encounter with her in-laws.

Miyo’s problems do not seem to end anytime soon, as she is facing a new kind of dilemma this season. Her father-in-law seems to be quite a nice and playful man, whereas her mother-in-law, Fuyu, is absolutely horrible. It also gets established that there is no bond between the son and mother, and that is for undeniable reasons. Fuyu is quick to judge people by their appearance and also makes others feel inadequate with her backhanded comments.

Thankfully, Kiyoka is the ultimate green flag who does not accept any kind of slander against his wife, and he quickly establishes his mother cannot say whatever she wants. He even threatens to kill her outright if she does not control herself. There seems to be a dark history between the mother and son, which we will explore later.

Verdict
