With the second cosplay assignment now over, My Dress-Up Darling Episode 10 puts the focus back on our favourite duo, Marin and Gojo. Let’s see how their crazy relationship develops even more in this review!
My Dress-Up Darling Episode 10 Overview

My Dress-Up Darling or Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi Wo Suru in original Japanese is a romance and slice of life anime based on a popular manga written series by Shinichi Fukuda. It is being adapted into the medium of anime by Studio CloverWorks, a studio that hasn’t exactly been having the best time of its existence right about now. The studio has faced immense criticism in just the previous year for how it handled two anime properties, Wonder Egg Priority and The Promised Neverland Season 2.
Keisuke Shinohara is directing the show. He has been directly involved in the productions of various anime series in the past, including Wonder Egg Priority and Devilman: Crybaby. My Dress Up Darling Episode 10 Review- A Cute Adventure

Contrary to all the other episodes of the show so far, there isn’t much to talk about in this My Dress-Up Darling Episode 10 Review. It seems like the show has comfortably settled into a formula and is perfectly fine just going along with it. While there is nothing wrong with the show exploring the usual slice of life tropes that we have seen in different anime before, one could be slightly disappointed if they felt that the show could be doing more with its story and characters right now.

The show’s latest outing explored the fallout of Gojo helping Shinju with her cosplay dreams and the conclusion of that particular part of the story. Gojo and Marin’s connection with Juju and Shinju was a thing of beauty by the end of it, despite its extremely rocky start. All of them ended up helping each other out, as Gojo helped the sisters overcome their awkwardness around Shinju also wanting to cosplay, while they thought him and Marin a lot of useful cosplay tips. It turns out that if people have good intentions, things usually don’t end up going as bad as everyone expected. Who could have seen that coming?

The show has also heavily hinted towards Juju having taken a liking towards Gojo, which is an extremely interesting direction for all the characters to go in. While I highly doubt that anything could stop the inevitable pairing of Marin and Gojo, this could be an interesting pitstop to explore in between that. Juju is a great character in her own right, and the experience she brings to the show is very much appreciated. Shinjo should be out of that particular picture, at the very least. Her dynamic isn’t one of a potential lover but a friend.

The other half of My Dress-Up Darling Episode 10 was spent casually, as Gojo and Marin happened upon Marin’s next cosplay. Since this was going to happen sometime anyway, it is an extremely revealing outfit that the show and Marin have a lot of fun teasing Gojo with. The show usually takes Marin’s voyeurism as a running gag now, which comes across as harmless fun or needless wish-fulfilment depending upon its application. However, talking about that is beating a dead horse by this point.

CloverWorks is doing an excellent job with the animation of this show. They put a lot of emphasis on Marin getting standout moments in each episode, as they rightly recognise she is the standout character from the show. Whether it be cosplay shots or reaction images, Marin always looks great in every frame that she’s in. That’s not to say that the rest of the show isn’t up to par because it is. She still manages to stand out, which says a lot about the design and quality of her character.
Verdict
My Dress-Up Darling Episode 10 was a decent episode that didn’t stand out or do anything special, but it was a good watch nonetheless.
