Mumbai Diaries Season 2 Ending Explained: Amazon Prime Video’s latest series is created and directed by Nikkhil Advani. It has eight episodes in total with a runtime of 40 to 50 minutes per episode. An Emmay Entertainment Production, Monisha Advani and Madhu Bhojwani serve as the producers for this season.

The cast for the show includes Mohit Raina as Dr. Kaushik Oberoi, Konkana Sen Sharma as Chitra Das, Shreya Dhanwanthary as Mansi, Natasha Bhardwaj as Dr. Diya Parekh, Satyajeet Dubey as Dr. Ahaan Mirza, Mrunmayee Deshpande as Dr. Sujata Ajawale, Tina Desai as Ananya, Parambrata Chatterjee as Dr. Saurav Chandra, Prakash Belawadi as Dr. Mani Subramanium, Ridhi Dogra as Dr. Sandhya , Balaji Gauri as Nurse Cherian, Sonali Kulkarni as Mrs. Kelkar, Jhanvi Rawat as Dr. Hima and others.

Mumbai Diaries Season 2 Ending Explained

This season of Mumbai Diaries represents the 2005 Mumbai floods. We have all the first responders, starting from doctors and nurses to the police and media being represented in the show through various characters. We also have their interpersonal relationships coming to play here.

In the ending moments of Mumbai Diaries Season 2, we see that Dr. Kaushik Oberoi’s wife, Ananya is not doing well. After giving birth to their baby boy, Ananya’s infection caused due to being exposed to sewage water mixed with the rain for a long time critically expanded making her terminal. In her last moments, we see Kaushik not leaving his wife’s side and being with her until she passes away. The two express their love to each other as Ananya passes away in Kaushik’s arms. The silence and seriousness of this death affect everyone, from Cherian to Dr. Subhramanium.

However, Ananya is not the only person in a critical condition. We see that Dr. Ahaan is in a coma after being thrown into the flooded zone of the hospital basement by Chitra Das’ abusive ex-husband, Dr. Saurav Chandra. In the last moments of the show, all the storylines playing out get some sort of closure. Chitra is able to stand up for herself and care for Ahaan. We see Mansi receive a message from Sachin’s family about doing anything and everything to keep him alive making her call about giving permission to amputate his leg valid and important.

The stories of the other patients are also addressed. We see Sandeep’s journey to become Sanjana is supported by their father. Although the mother is nowhere nearby they feel a sense of hope to receive their mother’s support soon too. The child being abused by at the juvenile home is seen resting with Sujata. Dr. Subhramanium is also able to finally stand up for his best doctor, the hospital and himself as he seeks Mansi’s help when he gets to know how ICM used Oberoi as a scapegoat.

He goes on air tell the rawness of the situation the first responders are faced with during times of crisis with the pinch of salt necessary. He accepts the faults as he acknowledges and appreciates the people in his hospital. Cherian addresses the forced corruption due to the need imposed on one of her nurses by the police and threatens him rightly.

Mumbai Diaries Season 2 ends with the funeral service for Ananya being held on the next day, 27th July where Mansi brings Mrs. Kelkar. Soon after, Mrs. Kelkar is seen withdrawing her case against Dr. Oberoi, who is now a father and has a son to look after and be hopeful about.

  2. I love season 1 and 2 of Mumbai diaries. Enjoyed it better than the good doctor. It’s fast paced, directors kept it real and not dragged. Excellent production. Hoping for a season 3.
