Vikingulven
Following a teenager named Thale, the story explores a werewolf in the woods who has been suspected of killing multiple people, including another teenager. Directed by Stig Svendsen, the film will be available to stream on Netflix.

Theatrical Releases
February 3
Babylon
Tracing Hollywood’s transition from silent to sound films, the story explores the extravagance and ostentatious nature of the industry in the late 1920s. Starring some big names like Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt, the film explores debauchery and ridiculousness while also highlighting the cutthroat nature of the film industry at the time. Directed by the Academy Award winner Damien Chazelle, the film is expected to be one of the biggest spectacles on screen.
The Woman King
When Viola Davis won an award years ago, the presenter pitched this movie to the audience there and got the ball rolling. This film is a result of that one manifestation. Starring the aforementioned actor, the film chronicles an all-woman army in the African kingdom of Dahomey fighting a foreign force trying to take away their livelihood. Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, this film has won several awards including a Golden Globe.
The Whale
With Darren Aronofsky at the helm, the film follows a man trying to reconnect with his daughter when he realises that he has only one week to live. Apart from the time limit that he has left, he is also an English teacher trying to teach the students about the purpose of life, a stark contrast to his own, where he is trying to cope with loss using food. This film is emotional and one of a kind, winning many awards.
Bommai Nagayi
Following a family of three, the film explores the corruption in the law enforcement system, the lack of respect for people in the lower socio-economic class and the impossible standard they have to reach to be active members of society. Additionally, it also explores loss and grief of a child. Directed by Shan and Pa. Ranjith, the film stars Yogibabu in the lead role.
Knock at the Cabin
From the mind of M Night Shyamalan, this story follows four people who show up at the cabin of a family and demand that they make a choice to sacrifice a member to save the world. While obviously, the family members don’t believe the four people, they have inserted themselves into the house, holding the family hostage until they make a choice. This film will star Dave Bautista, Rupert Grint, Jonathan Groff, Ben Aldridge, Nikki Amuka-Bird and Abby Quinn, among others.
Faraaz
Telling the story of a fated night in Bangladesh, this film focuses on a mass murder that occurred at a restaurant that shocked the country and the subcontinent. While this film seems like a crude punch below the belt for religion, it actually tries to present a nuanced take on the subjectivity of religion and the cultural differences that incite violence like this. Directed by Hansal Mehta, this will be one of the few films screened on this topic here.
Almost Pyaar With DJ Mohabbat
Love, heartbreak, family and society, navigating these hurdles are a given in this love story. Additionally, this film also explores the generational gap in understanding and accepting new people and changing identities in this current socio-cultural landscape. Directed by Anurag Kashyap and music by Amit Trivedi, this film will be a well-rounded audio-visual experience.
Writer Padmabhushan
When trying to woo a girl, it is always best to exaggerate. For this man, however, it completely backfires. After he boasts to his date that he is a writer unable to sell his books, the truth comes to life that he is perhaps not a writer at all. Directed by Shanmukha Prasanth, this film tells the story of a middle-class family and their quirks. Like all books, sometimes it’s okay to have no plot, just vibes. This comedy/drama comes to the big screens soon.
