Mission Yozakura Family Episode 12 was entertaining and laughworthy. Let’s revisit how the episode played out and go over the details.
Mission Yozakura Family Overview Episode 11 Recap
This episode kicks off with Taiyo training under the guidance of his older sister, Futaba. Despite his struggles, Taiyo is determined to improve. After training, they return home to find Mutsumi reminiscing over old family photos. The Yozakura siblings have a tradition of taking a photo each time they pass the spy exam.

It becomes clear that Taiyo is unaware of what a spy license entails, so Futaba and Mutsumi explain it to him. Passing the spy exam grants numerous benefits, making it highly coveted. Taiyo, now a full-fledged spy, is eager to take the exam. However, Kyoichiro imposes a strict mandate: Taiyo must pass the exam no matter what, as failing would tarnish the Yozakura name.
The episode also delves into Futaba’s fear of ghosts. Unlike zombies, which she feels she can defeat, ghosts terrify her. This fear stems from the death of her mother, which made her acutely aware of the fragility of life and the potential for sudden loss. She opens up about this vulnerability to Taiyo, adding a poignant layer to her character.
Meanwhile, Taiyo’s attempt at the spy exam doesn’t go as smoothly as he hoped. He encounters a variety of intriguing characters, including Hoshifuru, who flirts indiscriminately with everyone. The exam’s challenges are both fascinating and humorous, making for an entertaining watch.
Mission Yozakura Family Episode 12 Review And Recap

Today’s episode was quite wholesome, and we got to meet some very new interesting characters that have special ties with the Yozakura family. The anime opens with a scene where we see a heavily wounded man being saved by a young woman. Then, the scene shifts to Taiyo finding a strange man in his bag, which should not be able to fit a human inside. No, do not worry the man is not dead he is very much alive, and he even greets Taiyo as his new grandfather.
Apparently, it is none other than Ban, the patriarch or the grandfather of the Yozakura family siblings. He was in jail but, now, has managed to get out because this day is very important to him. Ban seems to be a very easygoing and eccentric fellow with flirtatious tendencies. Not only that, but he is also a very supportive and playful character who quickly accepts and dotes on Taiyo and takes him to a bar.

However, this playful nature comes to a halt, when he starts to reminisce about his past with his wife. With the way he talks, it is apparent that he enjoyed a good marriage and misses his wife vehemently. This segment was sweet as it showcased just how much Taiyo cherishes his wife. After listening to Ben and realising that time is fleeting, Taiyo confesses that he has been happier ever since his marriage with his wife.
The next segment focuses more on the random funny segment that the anime specialises in, and we see the family going on an outing to a mall. But do not think it is a normal mall, as here, all the spies, killers and assassins can buy the necessary items and ammunition they need for their missions.

Verdict
I actually liked today’s episode a lot. The first segment is definitely something that I appreciated more because of the introduction of a new character who will be very important later. Now that we have seen the grandparents, I hope to see the parents of the Yozakura family soon and know what actually happened to them.
Watch this new episode on Crunchyroll.
