Miss Night and Day Episode 5 Recap
Mi-jin makes a daring escape from the VIP lounge following a tip-off about Ji-ung’s raid. Amidst her escape, she tries to gather evidence of drug dealings within the bar, but her attempts result in blurry footage. She manages to send a discreet message to Ji-ung, informing him that Lim Sun had to leave the premises due to chest pains. After successfully meeting with Ji-ung, their return journey hits a snag when Ji-ung’s car gets stuck in the mud. Mi-jin’s parents come to their rescue, bringing them back on a tractor. Once they return home, Ji-ung changes clothes and departs for his own residence.

The following day, Ji-ung and Byung-duk analyze the situation, assuming that Lim Sun’s chest pains were likely due to the anxiety caused by the high-stakes investigation. Although Lim Sun shows them her recording, the footage is too blurry to serve as solid evidence. Shifting focus, Ji-ung requests the dash camera footage from the recent acid attack incident. Upon reviewing it, he notes a puzzling detail: the attacker chose to strike Ko Won in a crowded area rather than a secluded parking lot. This observation led to the realization that Ko Won was not the primary target.
Ji-ung confronts the attacker, hinting that he could face severe consequences if he continues to follow orders without revealing more information. The interrogation unveils that the attacker has been communicating with someone outside the prison through a complicit guard. This contact later arranges the attacker’s murder to prevent any further disclosures. Meanwhile, Ko Won develops a heartfelt friendship with Lim Sun and notices a distinctive heart-shaped scar on her foot, prompting him to decide to stay in the city. That night, Ji-ung experiences a haunting dream about his mother’s murder, revealing his long-term dedication to solving the case.

The next morning, Ji-ung and Byung-duk are informed about the death of the acid attack culprit. At the prison, the medical practitioner suggests the death resulted from cardiac arrest, a common issue among drug addicts. However, it’s subtly revealed that a prison guard, conspiring with an external party, switched the medication in the medical room, leading to the attacker’s death. Ji-ung instructs Byung-duk to keep the news of the culprit’s death from Ko Won, fearing the psychological impact if it’s perceived as a suicide.
Despite this, Lim Sun inadvertently tells Ko Won, resulting in a stern reprimand from Ji-ung. She reveals her awareness of being given trivial tasks but expresses her strong desire to be useful. In a twist of fate, a drunken Mi-jin accidentally ends up at Ji-ung’s apartment, mistaking it for Ga-yeong’s place. She unintentionally shorts the security system with her taser while trying to enter. Ji-ung, taking pity on her, allows her to sleep there. As Mi-jin wakes up the next morning, eager to leave and transform back into Lim Sun, she finds herself trapped inside due to the malfunctioning door. The episode concludes with Ji-ung’s stunned reaction as the sun rises.

Miss Night and Day Episode 5 Review
Now that the secret is out (I hope so), the next few episodes are going to be nerve-wracking. Will Ji-ung process what he saw and agree to work with Mi-jin despite knowing she is also Lim Sun? Or will he push her away since her secret is too weird? Either way, now that he knows what’s going on, it’ll be much better to join hands with her so he can solve his mother’s crime story with the help of the woman who transforms into two different people day and night.
What are your thoughts on this episode? Will Ji-ung understand the situation and handle it well or get paranoid? Drop your thoughts in the comment section.
