In the last episode, the home cooks were tasked to prepare a dish with an ingredient coming from a proverb that their partner chooses for them. We saw the 6 contestants’ dishes and in the end minute, Sachin & Kamaldeep were called upon. In today’s episode, we continue from there, Sachin made milk Kharvas with sabre cookies as his ingredient was milk and Kamaldeep made a sauce with mustard seeds (rye) topped with rice and prawn.

The judges weren’t impressed with either of the platings and listening to their comments, Kamaldeep started tearing up as she felt that her cooking is not improving even after trying so many times. The judges consoled her and advised both of them that this is a learning experience and that with practice they will get better.
Next Priya and Avinash were called, and Avinash made wheat and dates waffles with dates tahini and date jam. The judges liked his concept however on the plate it didn’t turn out to be that complimentary. Priya made grape clafoutis, which is a French dessert but she used two types of flours which made it very dense and the judges didn’t appreciate that texture.

After all the tasting, the two best dishes were chosen of Nayanjyoti and Aruna. Out of the two, Nayanjyoti was selected to be saved for his pomegranate-glazed fried chicken. Chef Ranveer was so impressed by him that he decided to give his knife to him. Soon we are welcomed to the next day, which is a black apron challenge, at the end of which one contestant will be eliminated.
There were some new faces in the elimination round today like Aruna and some recurrent faces like Sachin and Santa, which was pointed out by the judges. Again, they had a secret ingredient hidden under the cloche and the chefs hinted at it being one of the most common ingredients in the kitchen. Soon it was revealed to be eggs.
Like the last elimination challenges, they will have to replicate the dishes made by the judges with total perfection. Everyone is given 6 eggs in total and will go through 3 rounds. In the first two rounds, up to three contestants can get safe and the rest will compete in the final third round.
Aruna, who is a vegetarian was worried about how she will get through the tasks which involved using eggs. But she had the immunity pin and decide to use it to get safe. The remaining home cooks were tasked by Chef Garima to make French meringue with egg whites. In this challenge, the first person to hold their meringue bowl upside down for 10 seconds would get safe.
The cooks were having issues with hand whisking but Sachin finished first and got safe easily. Many contestants were strategic enough to save their eggs for further challenges by only using one for meringue except Suvarna, Santa and Nazia – as they used more than one. In the second challenge, Chef Vikas steps up and shows how to make a perfect egg poach.
He showed how they have to put the cracked egg in hot water mixed with vinegar and let it cook enough. However, on cutting the egg, the yolk should ooze out – as stated by him. If the yolk breaks while cracking the egg or while in the water then they will have to start again. Many contestants were coming up with their poached eggs but none were up to the standards.

However, Priya got it right on the first try and soon after Kamaldeep passed the task as well. Suvarna was just behind her but since the limit was for the first two, she will have to compete in the third round. Which will be about making a dish with whatever eggs they have left. The remaining contestants on the verge of elimination are – Priyanka, Santa, Nazia, Avinash and Suvarna.
Final Thoughts: MasterChef India Season 7 Episode 24
As compared to the last elimination challenges, today was the easiest and some unexpected contestants easily passed through it. Also, Aruna was too hasty in using the immunity pin, she could have easily gotten safe without losing the safety net which could have saved her in the future at a pivotal moment.
