MasterChef Australia Season 13 Episode 44 Review: One For The Top 10

MasterChef Australia Season 13 Episode 44 is an Immunity Challenge for Depinder, Justin, Pete and Tommy. Judges Andy Allen, Melissa Leong and Jock Zonfrillo, inform these four cooks that the challenge will take place in two rounds. In both rounds, they have to cook unconventional dishes. The challenge is called the Unconventional Immunity Challenge.

In the first round of MasterChef Australia Season 13 Episode 44, these four cooks have to make a dish using 2-minute instant noodles. They have to use the noodles to make anything but a noodles dish. The cooks will get 45 minutes in the first round, and the makers of the top 2 dish will be eligible to be in the second round.

Tommy and Depinder already have a dish in their mind. Justin and Pete are worried if they’ll get anything done out of these instant noodles. Tommy decides to cook Kataifi Chao tôm, for which he seasons the shrimps with noodles seasoning and uses the noodles to coat them and fry in hot oil. The judges are excited to taste his dish. Depinder cooks Chicken 65, and instead of using flour, she will use noodle batter to fry her chicken pieces. Andy and Mel are not sure about her dish, but she decides to stick to her idea.

Justin makes 2-minute noodle Chicken Tacos. He uses the noodles to make Tortilla out of it. Pete gets experimental and cooks Gnocchi with the noodles. MasterChef Australia Season 13 judges and Pete himself are worried about the outcome of the dish. The judges taste all the dishes and love Tommy, Depinder and Justin’s dishes. They appreciate Pete for getting experimental and making Gnocchi out of instant noodles.

The two contestants who get a chance to enter the second round of MasterChef Australia Season 13 Episode 44 to win immunity are Justin and Depinder. For the second round, the judges tell them to pick any ingredient from the pantry and make something unconventional out of it. They get 60 minutes to create an exceptional dish. The second-round winner wins immunity and will be the first contestant to make it to the top 10.

Justin picks up cola and lots of potato chips. He plays with childhood nostalgia and prepares a dessert – Vanilla Coke Ice cream, potato chip crumb, Coke jelly with a Coke spider foam, tempered chocolate and vinegar chip disc. Depinder decides to make Sriracha ice cream, but she’s worried that the garlic flavour might overpower her dish. Her final dish is a savoury dessert – Sriracha Ice Cream with Coriander Granita, Lime Curd, Caramelised Pineapple and fresh pineapple.

MasterChef Australia Season 13 judges shower praises on Depinder for making something out of the box. They appreciate her efforts but also point out that the garlic flavour in her dessert is overpowering. Justin’s Coke and potato chips dessert blow away the judges’ minds. It’s no surprise that Justin wins the second round, wins the immunity and is the first contestant to make it to the Top 10.
