Masoom Ending Explained: Who is Gunwant’s Murderer? Who Dies in the End?

Masoom, a thriller series released on Disney+ Hotstar on June 17. Directed by Mihir Desai, the show stars Boman Irani, Samara Tijori, Upasana Singh, Manjari Fadnis, Veer Rajwant Singh and Jobanpreet Singh. The show is inspired by the Irish series, Blood. The first season had 6 episodes.

In the first season, we learn that Balraj’s (Boman Irani) wife Gunwant (Upasana Singh) has passed away. His daughter Sana (Samara Tijori) believes that her mother’s death was not an accident but murder. Gunwant was already sick, bed-ridden and required a wheelchair to move from one place to another.

Sana believes that it is Balraj, her father, who killed Gunwant. Balraj also appears very suspicious to us from the start because of his extramarital affair and how sneaky he acted. But in episode 6, we learn what had happened and the real reason for Gunwant’s death.

Masoom Ending Explained

In the 6th episode, Balraj tells Sana everything. In the flashback scenes a few hours before the death, we see Balraj and Gunwant are happy together. Gunwant is aware of Balraj’s affair, and she’s okay with it. The couple sings together and is quite affectionate towards each other.

After some time, Balraj takes Gunwant to the garden area in her wheelchair. Gunwant tells Balraj that she wants to drink adrak chai. Balraj goes to the kitchen to make chai. During this time, Gunwant drops her phone on the ground. When she tries to pick it up, she falls from the chair, and her head hits the pool.

When Balraj returns, he’s shocked to see his wife in such a bad state. Balraj takes Gunwant to the room, where she makes a shocking request. Gunwant requests her husband, a doctor, to free her forever of all the pain. Balraj agrees to Gunwant’s request and lets her die. So all the time, he let himself be a bad guy in front of Sana so that she doesn’t get hurt by listening to the pain and suffering had mom had gone through.

Masoom Mid Credit Scenes

The makers hinted at another season of the Hostar Special series. In the mid-credit scenes, Balraj is in the hospital as his elder daughter and her husband had met with an accident. The doctor informs Balraj that his daughter is injured, but her husband might be dead.

Now, the main question is – Was it an accident, or he was killed?

Balraj didn’t share a good equation with his son-in-law. So chances are, the fingers might point at him again. We will have to wait for the new season to release to know what exactly happened.
