The infamous annual award show, MAMA Awards 2022 Day 2, is happening tonight, and everyone is ecstatic about it! Chapter 1 (Day 1) of the show took place on November 30, 2022. The award show is being held at Kyocera Dome Osaka in Japan. Organized by CJ E&M, and broadcasted via the music channel Mnet. Previously known as the Mnet Asian Music Awards is now rebranded simply to MAMA awards.
The second day of the award ceremony was graced by J-Hope from BTS, ITZY, Hwang Min-hyun and Kim So-hyun, Tempest, ZICO, (G)I-DLE, Lim Young-woong, NiziU, ENHYPHEN, TREASURE, INI, IVE, NewJeans and more. Chapter 2 of the show was hosted by Park Bo-gum, and Chapter 1 was hosted by Jeon Somi.

MAMA Awards 2022 Day 2
bibigo Culture and Style Award
The first category of awards of the night goes to J-Hope of BTS who arrived as a solo artist to the ceremony. He looked stunning in all-black suit with slick back hair and shades on.
Best New Female Artist 2022
The second category of awards went to the new girl group IVE under Starship Entertainment. The nominees of the category were Kep1er, LE SSERAFIM, NewJeans, NMIXX and YENA. IVE secured the win after dropping a chart topping single with their debut.
Best New Male Artist 2022
Xdinary Heroes won the award in this category among other nominees, namely, ATBO, TEMPEST, TNX and YOUNITE.
Inspiring Achievement
This category of the award goes to JAURIM. It is a rock band from Seoul, South Korea who has been around for 25 years. They were initially known as Full Count.
Best Hip Hop & Urban Music
The award for this category goes to Jay Park feat. IU for the song GANADARA. Hip Hop has been prevalent in the Korean music industry since a very long time and Jay Park is one of the most known artist in this genre. IU is a soloist who is also extremely successful and widely known throughout the general public. The nominees of this category were “Counting Stars” by BE’O, Beenzino, “Beyond Love” by Big Naughty, 10cm “MORE” by j-hope, and “Freak” by ZICO.

Best Male Artist
The award for this category goes to Lim Young-woong. He is very famous trot singer of South Korea. The nominees were J-Hope, Kang Daniel, PSY, and ZICO.
Best Female Artist
Nayeon from Twice debuted as a solo artist earlier in the year 2022. Her title track ‘POP!’ was a huge success in the charts, and the mini album also sold around 500k copies in the first week. She beat successful female soloists like IU, Miyeon, Seulgi, and Taeyeon in this category.
Breakout Producer
The award for this category goes to Min Hee Jin of NewJeans. She debuted in a new girl group earlier in the year of 2022 and produced their chart-topping singles. A young teen sweeping this category in a major awards function is a historic moment.
Best Dance Performance Solo
The winner of this category is the infamous singer of Gangnam Style, PSY featuring Suga of BTS for the song That That. The nominees of the category were “ZOOM” by JESSI, “POP!” by NAYEON, “Heart Burn” by SUNMI and “SMILEY” by YENA feat. BIBI.
Best Music Video
BLACKPINK won the category with their latest single Pink Venom. The chart-topping single was one of the most anticipated and celebrated songs of the year. Along with a powerful performance, the girls gained several new fans.
Song Of The Year (Daesang)
The 2022 debut group IVE won in this category. Beating many major groups like BTS, BLACKPINK and soloists like IU and J-Hope, the girl group took away the prestigious award of the night.
The Most Popular Male Artist
J-Hope took away the award for the most popular male in the award ceremony tonight.
Best Female Group 2022
The winner of this category is none other than BLACKPINK. They secured their win with the chart-topping album Pink Venom earlier this year. The nominees of this category were (G)I-DLE, aespa, ITZY, Red Velvet and TWICE.
Best Male Group 2022
BTS yet again won in this category with many other nominees, namely, ENHYPEN, NCT DREAM, SEVENTEEN, Stray Kids, and TXT. There has been no one to beat BTS in this category for several years.
Artist Of The Year and MAMA PLATINUM
The most prestigious award of the night, also known as a Daesang goes to none other than BTS. The boy band extended their record as the artist with the most daesangs in history, which is 70. They also received the MAMA PLATINUM, which was the last award of the night.
