Love Your Enemy Episode 2 Recap

The episode opens with Yun Jiwon waking up in a panic, haunted by the events of the previous day when she encountered Seok Jiwon in the staff room. Angry at his unexpected return, she heads to school, hoping to avoid him entirely. However, rumors spread about Seok Jiwon’s supposed injuries caused by Yun Jiwon. A flashback reveals the truth: in a fit of shock and frustration, she pushed him and fled the staff room after recognizing him through her broken glasses. Seok Jiwon, however, seems smugly satisfied, knowing she remembers him.
At the school, Seok Jiwon discusses a plan to create a special gifted class with the creative club head and the acting principal, who eagerly agrees to his suggestions. Meanwhile, Yun Jiwon reluctantly heads to a meeting he has called for all creative club teachers. Still fuming, she recalls a flashback where she drunkenly confessed to her colleague, Mr. Hong, who asked for time to respond. Entering the meeting, Yun Jiwon’s fiery rivalry with Seok Jiwon ignites again. He assigns her the task of preparing the gifted class plan, much to her chagrin. Later, Yun Jiwon vents to her friend Su-a, who finds Seok Jiwon’s authoritative demeanor appealing and playfully sides with him, further irritating Yun Jiwon.

In another twist, Seok Jiwon insists Yun Jiwon join him for lunch, but she refuses. Instead, she returns home, only to find him there, having mistaken her grandfather for her. When her grandfather accidentally splashes water on him, Seok Jiwon ends up staying for dinner while his clothes dry. Over the meal, the two bicker as usual, and Yun Jae-ho brings up concerns about the golf course project and its potential harm to the town’s heritage. While Seok Jiwon listens, he remains noncommittal. On their way back to school, Seok Jiwon probes Yun Jiwon about how she feels seeing him after 18 years. She brushes it off, calling it a meaningless past, and he retorts that he finds her annoying.

They part ways, declaring they will maintain a strictly professional relationship as chairman and teacher. Later, Seok Jiwon visits his father, Seok Gyeong-tae, in the hospital after he had an accident the night Seok Jiwon announced his decision to take over the school. Gyeong-tae is visited by Gyung-hun, who updates him on Seok Jiwon’s confrontation with Yun Jiwon in the staff room. Gyeong-tae orders Gyung-hun to ensure Yun Jiwon is put in her place, despite viewing her like a daughter. As Gyung-hun leaves, Gyeong-tae reflects on a tragic memory of Gyung-hun’s father’s death, suggesting hidden guilt.

Gyung-hun later visits Jae-ho, and they discuss Gyeong-tae’s arrogance and the destructive implications of his plans for the golf course. At school, a new trainee teacher arrives—a quirky and oddly dressed Mun-su, whom Su-a recognizes as a famous swimmer from Seoul. Mun-su is startled to see Yun Jiwon, his high school crush, but he hides his recognition since she doesn’t remember him. During lunch, Ji-hye carelessly mentions Yun Jiwon’s parents’ death, upsetting Su-a. Later, Ji-hye is seen walking with Seok Jiwon, making Yun Jiwon even more irritated. Su-a invites Seok Jiwon to the creative club’s dinner, and he agrees on the condition that Yun Jiwon also attends.
As the dinner approaches, Yun Jiwon is delayed when a student’s mother confronts her about the gifted class. Seok Jiwon waits for her to finish before leaving, though he doesn’t want her to know he waited. On their way to the dinner, Yun Jiwon tries to dissuade him from attending, but he insists. At the dinner, Mun-su drinks excessively and falls asleep, while the staff awkwardly discuss Seok Jiwon and Yun Jiwon’s childhood rivalry, leaving Ji-hye flustered and Su-a intrigued.

Outside, Mr. Hong meets Yun Jiwon to respond to her confession but gently rejects her. Overwhelmed, she breaks down, lamenting her struggles. Unbeknownst to her, Seok Jiwon overhears everything as he smokes nearby. Trying to leave unnoticed, he clumsily falls into a drum, calling for Yun Jiwon’s help. She accuses him of eavesdropping and mocks him for witnessing her vulnerable moment. Leaving him stuck, she returns to the dinner. Seok Jiwon eventually frees himself and returns as if nothing happened, only to overhear Yun Jiwon declaring she’d never date him, even in another life. Though hurt, he hides it and joins the group.
The conversation shifts to a lilac bush on school grounds that hasn’t bloomed in years. Seok Jiwon proposes a bet: if the lilacs bloom, Yun Jiwon must date him, but if they don’t, he will resign as chairman. The stakes rekindle memories of a similar midterms bet they had in high school, revealed in a flashback. Back then, Seok Jiwon confessed his feelings to Yun Jiwon, admitting he fell for her during their rivalry. In the present, both agree to the bet, locking eyes with determination as Ji-hye watches, visibly upset. The episode ends with the lilac bush symbolizing the tension and unresolved emotions between the two, setting the stage for their next clash.
