Love Tactics 2 Review: To Marry or Not to Marry – the Silly Dilemma

Love Tactics 2 Review: The Netflix film is also titled Aşk Taktikleri 2. It stars Demet Özdemir as Asli, Sükrü Özyildiz as Kerem, Atakan Çelik as Tuna, Deniz Baydar as Cansu, Hande Yilmaz as Ezgi, Bora Akkaş as Emir, and others. The Turkish romantic comedy is directed by Recai Karagöz. The cinematography is by Olcay Oguz. The runtime is 98 minutes. The movie has English subtitles, and it is also dubbed in English.

Love Tactics 2 Review Contains No Spoiler

In Netflix’s Love Tactics 2, Asli and Kerem’s friends Cansu and Tuna are busy with their wedding preparations. Asli doesn’t believe in marriage and shares her views with her boyfriend, Kerem. Kerem agrees with Asli’s views and reveals that he has no plans to get married. Asli is shocked to hear that Kerem doesn’t want to marry her.

Asli comes up with plans to pressure or manipulate Kerem into marrying her. Kerem comes up with his tactics to push Asli away from marrying him. So what happens in the end? Well, that’s not a surprise at all.

In 2022, when Love Tactics was released, it reminded me of several Hollywood romantic comedies, especially How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. The first part was fun and a decent watch. The lovers also had a happy ending. But in Part 2, the duo is now devising silly tactics for marriage.

Love Tactics 2 Review: To Marry or Not to Marry - the Silly Dilemma

Asli and Kerem are perfect examples of what happens when there’s no proper communication between two people. Their plans to change each other’s minds were stupid and half-hearted. If the makers really wanted us to root for their wedding, they should’ve shown some intense romance between them. But most of the time is wasted with Asli losing her mind and screaming with her girlfriends and Kerem making fun of his friends.

The story takes a typical twist with another man entering the story. We all know what happens when the third person enters. However, the makers didn’t care to develop any romantic bond between this new man and Asli. We keep waiting for a love triangle to happen, but are instead given a ridiculous plane sequence. The twist is added to make Kerem realise what he truly wants. But everything feels so superficial.

Love Tactics 2 Review: To Marry or Not to Marry - the Silly Dilemma

Love Tactics 2 takes away all the good chemistry we saw earlier between Asli and Kerem. There’s a stunning dance and one good romantic scene between them towards the end. I know that a solid story is never the strength of such movies. But there should’ve been some flow or logic in the narrative. The ending is all pleasing and sweet, but we know that’s how such stories always end. So it doesn’t come with any surprises.

Actors Demet Özdemir and Sükrü Özyildiz look quite attractive on-screen and seem to have had a lot of fun playing Asli and Kerem. But what’s the point of having two hot people in a movie if there’s hardly any romance between them? The supporting cast is often present with the leads but has little to contribute to making the narrative interesting.

Love Tactics 2 Review: Final Thoughts

Overall, the entire plot of “To marry or not to marry” is laughable and nothing new. However, if you want to sit and watch a mindless movie where the couple acts silly for no reason, this Turkish rom-com is for you.

The film is now streaming on Netflix.
