Love is Blind Season 6 Review: Drama and Toxicity Make For an Insane Watch

Sometimes when you get deep into Love is Blind, you can’t stop watching the show even if you implore yourself to ignore it for just one season. The show, created by Chris Coelen and hosted by Vanessa Lachey & Nick Lachey, is like fire to a moth (which is us, of course) and the series doesn’t stop reminding us whatever this scripted nonsense is and however much we hate it, we are not going to stop watching it. I am convinced that people behind this show secretly laugh at us every time we log on on Wednesday and watch the absolute insanity that takes place onscreen.

– This might be a rant –

Love is Blind Season 6 Review

Doomsday scenarios aside, Love is Blind season 6 focuses on a new batch of singles who, for some reason after 5 seasons, think that they might find their forever person by just talking and not meeting their dates is going to go super well in the long run. Of course, the insanity that we watch unfolding onscreen is a direct result of that. You know when people tell us that you always eat everything in moderation because if you force yourself not to eat anything then you tend to overeat (or something like that)? Yeah, this is that but with the government involved.

This season’s couples that make it to the “honeymoon” are Amy & Johnny, Clay & AD, Jimmy & Chelsea, Kenneth & Brittany and Laura & Jeramey. With only the wedding episodes left, we saw how Kenneth & Brittany and Laura & Jeramey crashed and burned over the last few weeks. Audiences, at this point, are not even deluding themselves into thinking that all of this is genuine (or at least I hope not) but even then, the drama and the toxicity that we watch throughout this season is especially delicious with almost every man wanting a taste of their other choices and almost every woman being extremely annoying and clingy.

I don’t know whether the producers thought it would be fun to increase the cringe this season or not but honestly, it makes for great mindless television and I am almost impressed with how far they are willing to go. Giving us hope with one couple who are cute, romantic and sane (Amy & Johnny), literally every other couple is the epitome of a car crash that you know is about to happen but you can’t stop.

Love is Blind Season 6 Review

Let’s come to the contestants because, honestly, after 5 seasons, season 6 is literally doing nothing new. Love is Blind season 6 episode 11 gave us some juicy gossip and a look into the downfall of decency like no other season. While Chelsea continues to ask for Jimmy’s attention, Jimmy goes and tells Jessica that she is still his number 1. Meanwhile, Sarah Ann cries to Jeramey (what is that spelling honestly) that she has to go up against the women for trying to sneak behind Laura to get her fiance and that it’s unfair and, of course, Jeramey tells her that it is ABSOLUTELY unfair.

We have a star batch of people who have nothing good going for them but make for great TV I guess. I don’t know whether this is how they want to break into the small screen and get followers on Instagram because this all seems desperate and a bit cringe to be associated with but then again, I am not a content creator in that sense so I don’t know.

Shade aside, this season of the reality TV show is such a mess that I feel bad every time I tune in to watch the newest release but I have to hand it to the producers that they constantly create something that you can hate or love but you definitely can’t ignore it.

Love is Blind Season 6 Review: Conclusion

Love is Blind Season 6

Love is Blind Season 6 is a sh*tshow that is extremely watchable if you feel bored and want to watch other people’s dramas. Regardless of whether or not falling in love sight unseen works, there’s no doubt that these messy people really need counselling or therapy or something. That being said, from their words to the scenarios to their homes, everything is scripted in this game of love and if we can somehow ignore that there are people who are as toxic and insane, it’s a good time with family to gossip over.

Love is Blind is streaming on Netflix. The wedding episodes air next week on Wednesday while the Reunion will air on March 18.
