Khakee: The Bengal Chapter Ending Explained
The series starts with the kidnapping of a young boy, who turns out to be the grandson of a local politician. Kidnapping has turned out to be a daily occurrence in 2002’s Bengal and when news reaches big-shot politician Barun Roy, he gets in contact with his goon, Bagha, and asks him to return the child. Bagha, in turn, reaches out to his loyal right-hand men Sagor and Ranjit to look at the incident. The two find out who the kidnappers are easily and soon enough bring the kid back. However, to keep up his public image, Barun Roy instructs the CM, who is under his thumb, to appoint Saptarshi as the lead investigator of the case since he has a very clean image.
Saptarshi, in turn, decides to go one step further and puts up a tip line to know about all the kidnappings that are taking place in the city. As this is taking place, Sagor and Ranjit are tired of following Bagha’s orders, who, according to them, is bowing down to Barun’s whims a bit too much. After one of their own men is shot, Ranjit takes revenge against a police officer, which angers Bagha and Barun, who take heat from the public and the opposition. Ranjit and Sagor are tired of Bagha’s weakness and decide to take matters into their own hands — they go out and kill Saptarshi.

This angers the public, who had taken with Saptarshi’s drive to do some good for the community. Put under pressure, Barun brings in IAS Arjun Maitra, who is a no-nonsense officer with no ill vices. He goes after Bagha, whom everyone blames for the murder, and the perpetrators all go underground to avoid being caught. Unfortunately, Bagha gets shot trying to run away and Sagor and Ranjit, having made a deal with Barun to get all of Bagha’s area for themselves, deliver the final blow. Arjun finds him afterwards. The public shower accolades on Arjun for his bravery, although he realises that Bagha was murdered.
Arjun decides to look further into the matter and stops his transfer by announcing his intentions in front of the public along with telling them that the CM is on his side. Through his investigation, he learns that Sagor and Ranjit, thick as thieves, might be behind the ordeal. As Barun decides to turn Sagor into a politician, Arjun realises that he cannot break through to the core of the criminal organisation without breaking Sagor and Ranjit’s bond. Thus, he decides to divide and conquer. Before long, Arjun’s plan works in the most devastating way. Consumed by greed and jealousy, Ranjit accidentally kills Sagor’s wife and the latter declares war.
Unfortunately for them all, Sagor’s killing spree doesn’t amuse Barun and, taking Ranjit under his wing, he instructs him to get rid of Sagor after he realises that he cannot control him. Ranjit stabs his best friend after making a ruse to apologise to him and with Sagor gone, Arjun only has one person to take down.
Khakee: The Bengal Chapter Episode 7
While Ranjit revels in his victory, Barun instructs him to find Sagor’s tapes. These tapes are an important part of this puzzle — Sagor has videotaped all of the misdeeds of the different politicians, enough to take them down. He had used these tapes to get out of jail by blackmailing Barun and of course, the latter did not like that. With Sagor now gone, Ranjit tries to deliver the tapes to Barun but is ambushed by the police. Unfortunately, we finally learn the name of the mole in Arjun’s team and it is none other than Aratrika. She hands over the tapes to Barun’s men after walking into a pre-planned ambush.
In the last episode of Khakee: The Bengal Chapter, the hunter becomes the hunted as Ranjit devices a plan to kill Barun during his regular morning walk. Arjun tries to stop this crime from happening but Ranjit turns out to be too quick for them and he ends up killing him. Afterwards, he goes to Nivedita to blackmail her into helping him escape, promising to give her the confessions. Nivedita, in a fit of desperation, decides to help him get out of the country but Arjun figures out her plan and stops Ranjit before he gets on the flight. Although he puts up a fight, going as far as to hold a child hostage at the airport, Arjun shoots him dead.
With everything now over, Arjun hands the tapes over to Nivedita and tells her to do good this time around. Although she questions his decisions, considering what she did was illegal and immoral, he tells her that she is the lesser evil here.
