Jung Kook: I AM STILL Review

BTS’ Jungkook’s docuseries Jung Kook: I AM STILL brings his solo debut journey filled with newfound enthusiasm, fear, nervousness, and excitement to find a new side to himself. Taking viewers through his concert Golden Live on Stage, the singer’s album is put in front of the viewers while we see his hectic schedule right before his military enlistment. The series captures his hesitant side while showing how talent shines the brightest when combined with an effort like his.

The docuseries is surely a pleasure to watch for fans, however, it is also something that can be enjoyed by just about anyone. It smoothly captures the singer’s schedule from months before his enlistment when he decided to bring us his solo album. We see the struggles he goes through during these months while dropping surprises and filming content for fans before he needs to leave. His emotions are raw in this series and we get to see his vulnerability that is usually hidden behind his perfect performance on stage.

As said by many in this series, Jungkook’s talent mixed with his hard work and perfectionist attitude is what makes him the star that he is today. He leaves everyone he comes across in awe with this attitude, while leaving viewers with the lesson that dwelling on mistakes for long is unhealthy and it is better to move on. Through his own ways, Jungkook brings viewers important lessons and advice on things that are relatable in different ways.

While his attitude is highlighted in this series, we also see the confidence within him build with each passing milestone in this journey. From his first performance to his last before enlistment, he simply improves and brings about the best side for his fans. He never fails to satisfy his audience and while this worries us (and Jimin who appears by his side here and there), we know that he is only doing his best for his fans.

What I have especially loved about this docuseries is how Jungkook may be on his solo journey, but he has one hand holding onto his beloved BTS family. They are constantly present through his words and worries, and through their older clips which is a pleasure to watch for fans. We have dearly been missing this fam and seeing the bond between them never fails to make us cry.

On the other hand, I have to point out the amazing cinematography and little vlogs made by Jungkook that give you the best experience possible. The way this whole journey comes together is beautifully captured and runs so smoothly, that you cannot help but find yourself in 2023 when all this happened. The series plays out really well and captures you through his journey, his music, his emotions, and simply just him.

Getting to see this side of him and Golden is what makes this docuseries worth the watch and will capture you right from the start. So get ready to see different sides of the artist (quite literally).
