Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 9 Review: Gojo Satoru’s Fate Has Been Sealed!

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 9 Review: The ninth episode of the anime series premiered on September 21, 2023. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 (呪術廻戦 or Sorcery Fight) much-anticipated anime of this season, is finally out, and the fans cannot keep calm. Directed by Sunghoo Park, the show is animated under MAPPA Studio. With Sayaka Koiso and Tadashi Hiramatsu designing the characters, Yoshimasa Terui is the sole composer of the series. Tatsuya Kitani performed the opening theme, Where Our Blue Is (青のすみか), while Soushi Sakiyama performed the ending theme, Light (燈).

The anime is scheduled for two cours, the first five episodes adapted the manga’s Hidden Inventory arc, and the upcoming eighteen other episodes will showcase the Shibuya arc. Licensed under Crunchyroll, the episodes will be available with English subtitles, and the dubbed version will be released later on.

Based on the manga series of the same name by Gege Akutami, the story follows high school student Yuji Itadori as he joins a secret organization of Jujutsu Sorcerers in order to kill a powerful Curse named Ryomen Sukuna, of whom Yuji becomes the host. However, the new season will consist of various aspects of the story which the audience has been wondering about. Each episode has a runtime of 20-25 minutes.

The new episode is one rollercoaster ride. The story contains some of the most unexpected plot points that will keep the viewers shocked. Apart from the plot, the animation is a visual feast that makes everything worthwhile. However, the fate of one of the central characters is doomed, and a major revelation changes the trajectory of the story moving forward.

Needless to say, the episode is one of the most important ones in the entire series and surrounds Gojo, the strongest jujutsu sorcerer in the realm. It starts with everyone being asked about their opinions of Gojo, and everyone has different opinions. However, they agreed that Gojo is, in fact, the strongest of all.

Gojo Satoru’s entire character and persona is about how strong he is. So, the character being gone from the plot will significantly bring a lot of changes. Moreover, it will give other characters the opportunity to grow and show their capabilities. It will be interesting to see how all the other characters contribute to the story.

From the fluidity and precision of the fight sequences to the intricate details of character expressions, the animation team has pushed the boundaries of what’s possible. Each battle is a visual spectacle, with spells and curses coming to life in vibrant and mesmerizing ways. The dynamic camera work and choreography make every confrontation an adrenaline-pumping thrill, while the character designs are both visually appealing and meticulously crafted.

Additionally, the voice actors have displayed a remarkable ability to breathe life into their respective characters, showcasing their extraordinary talent in the art of voice acting. Their performances go beyond mere dialogue delivery; they skillfully convey a wide spectrum of emotions, enabling the characters to come alive on screen. Each voice actor infuses their role with distinctive traits and nuances, ensuring that every character possesses a distinct and memorable personality.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 9 Review: Final Thoughts

The new episode is definitely one of the best ones so far. It stands out in terms of both plot and showcasing world-class battles. Moreover, there has also been significant character growth which evelates the story further. In addition to displaying the full potential of the central character, the motives and intentions of the villains are shown as well which adds substance to the story.
