Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 17 Review: In Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 17, Sukuna faces a worthy opponent that knows no bounds. The seventeenth episode titled “Thunderclap Part 2” of the anime series premiered on November 16, 2023. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 (呪術廻戦 or Sorcery Fight) is directed by Sunghoo Park, the show is animated under MAPPA Studio. With Sayaka Koiso and Tadashi Hiramatsu designing the characters, Yoshimasa Terui is the sole composer of the series. Tatsuya Kitani performed the opening theme, Where Our Blue Is (青のすみか), while Soushi Sakiyama performed the ending theme, Light (燈).

The anime is scheduled for two cours, the first five episodes adapted the manga’s Hidden Inventory arc, and the upcoming eighteen other episodes will showcase the Shibuya arc. Licensed under Crunchyroll, the episodes will be available with English subtitles, and the dubbed version will be released later on.

Based on the manga series of the same name by Gege Akutami, the story follows high school student Yuji Itadori as he joins a secret organization of Jujutsu Sorcerers in order to kill a powerful Curse named Ryomen Sukuna, of whom Yuji becomes the host. However, the new season will consist of various aspects of the story which the audience has been wondering about. Each episode has a runtime of 20-25 minutes.

Words cannot describe how incredibly well-crafted the new episode is. From the godly battle sequence between Sukuna and Mahoraga to emotional breakdowns involving Yuji Itadori, the episode is a rollercoaster ride. It gives an instant adrenaline rush with the exhilarating moments of the magnificent display of power to dreadful segments that leave everyone crushed.

The creators very skillfully explain the mechanics behind the power scaling and what each move represents. Without sparing any detail, the audience receives a thorough rundown of the techniques used by a particular character. Moreover, the battle sequences also set up the storyline for a bigger and more complex revelation which will be shown in the upcoming episodes.

Objectively, the anime is a feast for the eyes. The choreography of combatants, engaged in high-stakes duels of supernatural clashes, is executed with a precision that mesmerizes. Explosions of vibrant colours and dynamic camera angles add an extra layer of visual splendour to the spectacle. Moreover, the animation seamlessly blends with a symphony of heart-pounding music, and viewers are catapulted into a world where each frame pulsates with a boost of dopamine.

In a moment that tugs at the heartstrings, the indomitable main character, Yuji Itadori, finds himself in the grip of overwhelming emotion, tears streaming down his face. As the weight of the narrative’s challenges bears down on him, Yuji’s vulnerability is laid bare, revealing a depth of emotion that resonates with viewers.
