Aruvi breaks all the stereotypes and stigma around people with HIV, transpeople and women in general. When a beautiful young girl encounters HIV in a non-sexual way, her parents kick her out despite her claiming she hasn’t had any sexual intercourse. After she moves out, every man she meets abuses her. She takes a huge step in a TV show and makes everyone who did her wrong regret it. The ending will move you to tears.

Queen – 2014

Queen is an Indian romantic comedy movie starring Kangana Ranaut. When Rani’s fiance elopes right before her wedding, she takes a deep breath and decides to enjoy her honeymoon alone. During her trip, she realises the real her and makes peace with her inner self.

Legally Blonde – 2001

Blonde women are often objectified and labelled as dumb and petite. You’d know what I’m talking about if you’ve seen the Euphoria series. But back in time, starring Reese Witherspoon, Legally Blonde movie took a step to erase such a notion. The flick follows a blonde girl who is indeed objectified. On the other hand, she crushes the stigma, enters one of the biggest universities and cracks a major case like it’s nothing.

Charlie’s Angels – 2000

Charlie’s Angels have not one but three amazing women who are brave, bold, sexy and intelligent. We have no clue who this Charlie guy is, but thanks to him, the neighbourhood got three action heroes who are always on a mission. Their friendship is something to be super jealous of because they’re goals in almost everything.

On the Basis of Sex – 2018

Following the real-life story of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the second woman who served as an Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court, On the Basis of Sex shows women’s hardships regarding employment. Being a mother and a wife, Ruth’s life hits rock bottom when she gets rejected at law firms. When her husband Marty gets diagnosed with Cancer, her life shackles even more. Nevertheless, she makes history with one fine case.

Aramm – 2017

Aramm, starring Nayanthara, became one of South India’s blockbuster films. When a child gets stuck in a manhole, the district IAS officer tries her best to save the kid’s life. When every possible method of the police and army fails, she takes a huge risk that puts another child’s life at stake.

English Vinglish – 2012

Late actress Sridevi acts as a typical illiterate mother who her family members subjugate for being unable to converse in English. When the family visits New York to join the marriage celebration of their relative, the housewife takes her chance and joins a Spoken English class. Jumping between family and self-growth, she finally re-discovers herself and makes her family mates regret for putting her down. English Vinglish is a one-of-a-kind movie.
