Hunter With a Scalpel Episode 16 Recap
Hunter With a Scalpel finale opens with us getting the heartbreaking realisation about Eun-seo’s death and how Se-hyun coped with it with her sister’s guidance.
In the present, Jung-hyun and his team open Jo-gyun’s murder truck to find a shocking scene inside. Meanwhile, Se-hyun meets Jo-gyun while reminiscing about her past, who tries to manipulate her into coming with him. In the barrel, a freezing Se-eun uses Se-hyun’s watch to call for help in a last-ditch effort. Jung-hyun immediately gets the notification and rushes to save her, while Se-hyun ingests poison in front of Jo-gyun, leaving him shocked and panicked.

In the forest, Jung-hyun finally finds a passed-out Se-eun and tells her that Se-hyun had sent him to save her. At the beach, Se-hyun, fibbing about the poison, injects Jo-gyun with a muscle relaxant. She is about to kill him when Jin-woo rushes in to stop her, and learning that Se-eun is alive, is finally able to breathe a sigh of relief. They are both arrested afterwards, but thankfully, Se-hyun doesn’t face a murder charge.
Free, alive and with no one to upend her life anymore, she goes back to her mother and shares a warm moment with her.

Months later, Jung-hyun catches Kwon Hyung-jo red-handed as karma comes full circle, while Se-hyun buys Se-eun her own uniform as she is off to school. It’s a heartwarming moment as both Se-hyun and Jo-gyun take care of Se-eun, who is ecstatic at being able to live a happy, normal life. Later, we see Jo-gyun in prison as he hallucinates Se-hyun coming to meet him. It seems like he has completely lost his link to reality.
In the Hunter With a Scalpel season finale, Se-hyun goes to Eun-seo’s grave and thanks her for taking care of her and guiding her for all these years.
Hunter With a Scalpel Episode 16 Review

Well, this was an emotional goodbye that ties all the threads of this series beautifully. Hunter With a Scalpel has been a divisive K-drama that left me very confused about character arcs and motivations, but episode 16 ties everything together with a bow and leaves your heart happy. If you’ve watched the series every week, the ending will be bittersweet for you. That being said, the clear winner of this drama is Park Yong-woo, who is underutilised in my opinion, but shines in every episode. That last scene with him is truly terrifying! Either way, I liked Se-hyun’s journey till here and (pleasantly?) surprised that she didn’t get a romantic plot with Jung-hyun. It’s probably for the best, maybe!
