Hunter With a Scalpel Episode 14 Recap

The episode opens with Se-hyun revealing all of Jo-gyun’s misdeeds and her role in them. The story leaves them all emotional, especially when she opens up about Se-eun and how Jo-gyun is abusing her. Later on, the police team go out to check on Jung-hyun and is emotional that he has survived this ordeal. Se-hyun eventually agrees to cooperate with Jin-woo and implores him to prioritise saving Se-eun above all else.

Meanwhile, Jo-gyun arrives at the hospital to find Se-hyun and follows Jin-woo, hoping that he will take him to her. Elsewhere, Se-hyun shares her past with Jung-hyun in an emotional and vulnerable turn of events. Se-hyun expresses interest in never stopping until she avenges her father’s misdeeds and saves Se-eun, and Jung-hyun implores her not to do it alone and promises to help her however he can. At her house, Se-eun charges Se-hyun’s watch in an attempt to send out an SOS message.

After promising Jung-hyun that she won’t be reckless on her own from now on, Se-hyun bumps into Jo-gyun and immediately follows him to an uninhabited corner of the hospital. She asks him about Se-eun, but he rambles on about her sending him a message to save her. He threatens to kill Se-eun and her mother if she doesn’t follow him, but the moment is interrupted when an on-duty officer comes up to check on her.

As Jo-gyun makes his exit, a reporter follows him, having recognised him from the police bulletin. He follows him out to his home, while the police try to nail down Jo-gyun’s movements and where he might try to make his escape. Remembering Eun-seo’s death at her father’s hands, Se-hyun can’t shake the nagging responsibility of saving Se-eun while the reporter follows the young girl around without a care in the world. Of course, he is quickly bludgeoned to death.

Hunter With a Scalpel‘s problem is that it desperately tries to be twisted but ends up being extremely stupid. I don’t understand why everyone in this series follows a psychotic serial killer around, thinking they will be the “sPeCiAl OnE”. It’s really annoying after 14 episodes, especially now that everyone knows who Jo-gyun is. And sure, some reporters are too nagging for their own good, but I am pretty sure most have some amount of brain that they use in their daily lives and don’t follow a murderer to his den.

Thankfully, Se-hyun hasn’t run off to save the world in this episode, but I guess we have 2 more episodes for her to make a grave mistake and lose her other fingers. Either way, this drama gets very frustrating sometimes and doesn’t feel too realistic with how the characters think and operate.
