Hunter With a Scalpel Episode 12 Recap

The episode opens with Jo-gyun asking a young Se-hyun to clean up another one of his messes. However, she stumbles upon Eun-seo’s birthday gift to her and is left ecstatic. Back in the present, a shocking revelation comes out – Hyung-jo is still alive, Se-hyun having saved him from Jo-gyun, and he was hiding for all this time. He has come to the police station to report the crime, leaving all the officers completely shocked.

Later, Chang-jin fills Jung-hyun in on the latest development, and when he mentions that Hyung-jo had smelled bleach at the attack spot, his mind immediately wanders to Jo-gyun’s laundry shop. Realising that he won’t get help from the higher-ups, Jung-hyun decides to take matters into his own hands while Chang-jin tries to convince the team to look at all the evidence thoroughly. As a result, he is moved to oversee the traffic division, much to the dismay of everyone on the team.

However, when they learn that Chang-jin will join Jung-hyun to investigate Jo-gyun, they all join him to see the case to the end. They all arrive at the laundry shop to investigate before Jo-gyun arrives and are astonished to find no fingerprints at his house. At the truck, Se-eun tries to take care of Se-hyun’s injured hand, in a rush, her watch stumbles out. Se-hyun instructs her to press the button that will call Jung-hyun. When Jo-gyun arrives, Se-hyun manipulates him to take her to the hospital by addressing him as her father, which immediately catches his attention.

As he takes the truck out, Jung-hyun, who is passing by the area, notices the truck and follows his intuition, giving chase. Inside the truck, Se-hyun and Se-eun have a moment of understanding as Jo-gyun comforts the former. However, when Se-eun isn’t able to get the medicines, Jo-gyun has no other option but to take Se-hyun to the pharmacy. Jung-hyun keeps close watch on the unfolding events, while Chang-jin repeatedly tells him not to act alone.

At the pharmacy, Se-hyun pepper-sprays Jo-gyun and tries to run with Se-eun, who refuses to leave her father. As a result, Se-hyun gets badly punched by her father, and Jung-hyun arrives at the scene to save her. He eventually stabs him as well, and the two of them refuse to let each other leave. Thankfully, the police arrive just in time to stop the madness, but Jo-gyun takes Se-eun hostage to make a run for it.

Afterwards, a disconsolate Se-hyun begs for someone to call an ambulance as Jung-hyun bleeds out on the ground.

Ok, this drama finally got the insanity right, and episode 12 is absolutely thrilling. With only ~ 2 hours of content left, things have heated up to a boiling point, and I was constantly on edge and hoping for everyone’s survival. Of course, Se-hyun does something stupid once again, but Hunter With a Scalpel wouldn’t be the show that it is without her stupidity.

The episode is really good, and now that we can see glimpses of Se-hyun’s personality shining through, I can see how good this series can really be. I can’t wait for next week’s episodes!
