Who is the White Dragon in House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 2? Who Will Be Its Rider?

Another season, another Dragon! We are all wondering about the House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 2 White Dragon that we saw momentarily. It has filled fans with excitement, similar to what was felt when Daenerys’ Dragon eggs hatched. A new dragon is always a lovely surprise and, a welcomed prize in this franchise and, we are here to explain everything about it to you!

House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 2 White Dragon Mystery Explained

House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 2 introduced us to Alyn of Hull’s brother, Addam. This felt like an important moment but, the significance of it was not clear until a few segments later. While Addam is by the shore, he catches a crab and, right at that moment sees a silver-grey dragon fly over him. This foreshadowing was a clever one, not only giving us the identity of the dragon but, also its rider.

If you haven’t guessed yet, the dragon flying over Driftmark was none other than Seasmoke, the dragon of Laenor Velaryon! It was Seasmoke who was one of the many fighting the Crabfeeder, making the scene an excellent easter egg giving us all the information required without spilling words. Moreover, Addam seeing the dragon also is an indication of him being the dragon’s future rider. But, how?

As House of the Dragon Season 2 progresses, we will see Team Black recruit people to claim riderless dragons to fight by their sides. This information has already been previewed in the promo trailer. This will result in the Red Sowing, a prelude to the Dance of the Dragons. It is during this sowing that we will come across Dragonseeds- a term used to describe the bastards of Valyrian descent. Addam is a Dragonseed which will make it possible for him to bond with Seasmoke and, ride the dragon later on to protect and stand by Team Black.

According to the books, the parentage of Addam has been linked directly to Laenor due to Addam’s ability to claim Laenor’s dragon. However, the speculations of him and his brother being the bastards of Lord Corlys Velaryon of Driftmark are strong. The silver hair the two have in the book is a clear mark of Valyrian descent. However, in the show Alyn is shown as bald and, Addam has black hair making it an interesting debate of what the show plans to do about their parentage.

Nonetheless, we are supremely excited to see our lost, riderless dragon return to its tribe and, fight for the rightful heir to the throne. Meanwhile, you can watch the House of the Dragon series on Max and Jio Cinema!
