House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 2 Ending Explained: The latest episode of the series is titled ‘Rhaenyra the Cruel’ and, a lot goes down under that banner. Team Black and Team Green both have losses on their sides this time around; some manpower and some strategy-wise. The episode was directed by Clare Kilner and written by Sara Hess. The runtime of the episode was 66 minutes.
The main cast for the series includes Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen, Olivia Cooke as Queen Alicent Hightower, Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower, Fabien Frankel as Ser Criston Cole, Eve Best as Princess Rhaenys Targaryen, Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon, Elliot Tittensor as Ser Erryk Cargyll, Harry Collett as Jacaerys Velaryon, Bethany Antonia as Baela Targaryen, Sonoya Mizuno as Mysaria and Matthew Needham as Larys Strong.
There are a couple of new cast members such as Gayle Rankin as Alys Rivers, Freddie Fox as Ser Gwayne Hightower, Abubakar Salim as Alyn of Hull, Clinton Liberty as Addam of Hull, Jamie Kenna as Ser Alfred Broome, Kieran Bew as Hugh, Tom Bennett as Ulf, Tom Taylor as Lord Cregan Stark and Vincent Regan as Ser Rickard Thorne.

House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 2 Ending Explained
House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 2 takes us through a tough time faced by both parties in the civil war. Following the death of Jaehaerys things have gone in shambles in King’s Landing while Rhaenyra has lost her trust in Daemon. Following the grief and anger-filled moments of the episode, we finally reach to a point where Ser Criston Cole asks Ser Arryk to visit Rhaenyra in Dragonstone to kill her. He asks him to pose as his twin brother, Ser Erryk, while he is in Dragonstone.
Impressed by this move that Ser Criston Cole has made, Aegon finds him more suitable to be his hand. Aegon dismisses his grandfather, Otto Hightower as the Hand of the King and, gives Ser Criston Cole the position.
Meanwhile, Ser Arryk manages to infiltrate Rhaenyra’s castle in Dragonstone. Although he is alone in this mission, he is swift enough to land up in Rhaenyra’s chambers to attack her. Fortunately, Ser Erryk steps in to fight for his queen. He fights his brother and, both end up injured. Ultimately, Ser Erryk is able to kill his brother in the duel. However, he is overwhelmed with honour.

Kinslaying is a terrible deed and, the ones who play a part in it are cursed by God. Thus, even after killing Ser Arryk, Ser Erryk falls on his sword. His last words to Rhaenyra are ‘Forgive me’.
House of the Dagon Season 2 Episode 2 ends with Alicent going to counsel Aegon. But when she sees him cry, she leaves his chambers without talking to him. She heads to her room where Ser Criston Cole is sitting on her bed. As the two are unable to control their emotions and lust, they continue to engage in yet another steamy sexual encounter.
